Establishing a Virtual Chapel, an electronic devotional tool, within the community context of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, the author observed surprising impact as employees, volunteers and donors began sharing this message of Christ with others. The author tested six different methods of creating clergy groups, searching for the most effective and simple to set up. Ideally, an in-person group brings the best results for accountability; however, online groups have much to offer in the relief of isolation. The author examines the problems with clergy morale and pastoral identity, the Order of Elders in the United Methodist church, the Wesleyan theological background of gathering in groups, today's Internet culture, and the concepts of community and virtual community. Through pro-active research, the author created a clergy group meeting online, on a weekly basis, for study and mutual support. However, many individual congregations show every sign of being vital congregations. This project establishes the feasibility of using Internet tools to connect Wesley Theological Seminary to these congregations. The author establishes precedence for the project by analyzing the history of seminaries and the conversation within theological education about its future. He grounds the project in the context of the seminary's strategic plan. The author's thesis is that the Internet is one more way to be open to the Spirit's work in evangelism. The Internet has potential to transform lives, encourage spiritual friendships and promote a gracious sharing of the Gospel.  The author collected and analyzed data through Internet questionnaires, observations, interviews, and web page field project in the proactive field research methodology suggested by Myers in Research in Ministry.
