Questionnaires were given before and after the use of the study guide to test its effectiveness. The questionnaires studied a wide range of factors, from social attitude to church involvement.  They also examined attitudes toward the denomination and its leadership.  The factors that tend to correlate with rejection of the new hymnal are: white, male, irregular worship attender, and non-committee member. To test it out, the author reviewed theological studies, interviewed people from a local church, and had dialogue with pastors in a district.  On the basis of this material a Bible study about ancestors and a worship service which includes ancestors were developed. These themes were introduced through a Bible study and a series of worship services.  Methods of research included personal interviews as well as questionnaires.
