Evangelical churches in the modern era are no exception: while we often have solid processes for growing in our knowledge of scripture or for fellowship with fellow believers, rarely do we focus on growth in prayer. On the rare times when we do, such growth is often individual in nature rather than congregational. This imbalance is highlighted all the more when we consider that many of the existing works and programs addressing prayer are often written to address individual–rather than congregational–practices.\r\n\r\nThis project was primarily aimed at impacting the people of First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux City Iowa (Evangelical Free Church of America) in their practice of corporate prayer. This was done through two phases. The first consisted of an eight-week sermon series specifically focusing upon the Lord’s Prayer. The second phase of this intervention involved a nine-week workshop in which participants read and discussed selected prayers of the Bible alongside works from church history regarding prayer. These discussions then led into time spent praying in a group format, varying from 3-5 participants around a table to an entire workshop of 31 participants. The overall goal was to teach participants how the Lord’s Prayer provides both an example and a framework for biblical prayer in such a way that they could then apply that framework to other passages throughout the Bible in natural and contextually faithful ways.\r\nEvaluation surveys and interviews revealed that the interventions of this project were successful in their goals of making prayer part of how FEFC went about being and making disciples, and that growth was self-reported by participants in both individual and group contexts.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1824980382784684032,"timestamp":"2025-02-24T22:41:59.007Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"30a28877-4efe-4c83-8a99-a5b6cef64c7f","accessControl_ssim":["cd2c9081-1645-475e-b14e-2219cef44cae"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["A Pathway of Discipleship to Maturity in Christ Illustrated with Ministry to Iranian Believers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-02-03T16:37:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e589724f-5e81-4d57-9043-97596e60d10c"],"hasLease_ssim":["479b5aec-153e-4816-b7ac-27c3216e35e5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This is particularly seen amongst those who come to Christ out of a Muslim background. This study began with the desire to increase the effectiveness of discipleship amongst believers from an Iranian Muslim background. It evolved into an exploration of discipleship, its foundations, its meaning, and a pathway that would lead to maturity in Christ. It centered on the question, “How can I help my brother from a Muslim background grow up to maturity in Christ?”\r\nThis question was also affected by concerns about culture. Each culture has its own priorities and concerns, the ways in which people relate, understand each other, and live together. Respecting all people includes understanding their culture. Yet culture is critiqued under the authority of the Word of God. What can be retained, and what needs to be changed, in a culture in which the people are living under the Lordship of Christ? This led to an exploration of the Kingdom of God and His universal directives in discipleship. It includes His unchanging standard of holiness and love. It includes the spiritual battle in which discipleship takes place, in the process of traveling to the Lord’s goal for each disciple, maturity in Christ. It included questions such as, “What is maturity in Christ?” and “How do I arrive at maturity in Christ?” This study proposes to make a start in the discussion of discipleship to maturity in Christ. It presents principles and a pathway towards this goal. Always in view is the application of this process into the lives of dear brothers and sisters who have come to Christ from a Muslim background, of which some examples are included. May this study be a blessing and help to all believers, particularly to those serving believers from a Muslim background.\r\n\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1823054913319469056,"timestamp":"2025-02-03T16:37:28.231Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-27T21:37:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-27T21:37:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f4b8a46e-f00d-44c9-b03f-e523f3506309","accessControl_ssim":["fd167429-ab7e-4dcd-a4af-18c85f220b4d"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["A Retrieval of John Calvin's Homiletical Method Applied and Tested for a Modern Context"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-27T21:37:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-27T21:37:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7ac3991a-23b3-4d29-a93f-0109c271a586"],"hasLease_ssim":["0bc1b112-25e3-46af-9a3f-ede819a9a256"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The researcher sought to address that issue through a process of retrieval for use in his modern-day congregation. Looking for guidance from a significant homiletical figure of the past who married his theology to his practice of preaching, this project distilled the homiletical method of John Calvin into a series of nine Homiletical Principles. These Principles were based on Calvin’s sermons, writings, and on secondary research about Calvin. Those nine Homiletical Principles were then applied in a series of sermons preached to the researcher's congregation, where their impact was subsequently assessed using a basic qualitative research design. The research evaluated the impact of those Principles through a series of surveys, evaluations, and interviews to gauge the experience of participants. Through this analysis, it is hoped that by looking back to the past, practitioners will be emboldened to move forward with more confident expositions of God’s Word. Therefore believers are affected in both positive and negative ways in their spiritual formation through the consumption of media. Spiritual formation is seen through the narrow lens of spiritual disciplines. There is a focus on how people at Bethany Church can use spiritual discipline apps to grow spiritually recognizing that neuroplasticity allows for real change in a person. The use of media and spiritual disciplines are explored through surveys and interviews to see how they interact with each other in the lives of believers. Spiritual disciplines are examined from a historical, theological, and biblical perspective. A class was developed to teach each participant about spiritual disciplines. Scientific and generational research is examined in order to understand the dangers and benefits to the consumption of media. Key conclusions of this major project include: the participants did not see a connection between their spiritual formation and their leisure time until it was pointed out to them. Meaning that the idea that their consumption of media might hinder their spiritual formation was a foreign concept. Another key conclusion is that media can and should be used to help people grow in\r\ntheir faith. In this way media can be a positive tool in spiritual formation. A diversity of approaches to spiritual formation are necessary as each generation has unique needs and issues around media and spiritual disciplines."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821968732873818112,"timestamp":"2025-01-22T16:53:05.836Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:52:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T05:01:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6d5e2afe-81d8-4902-a11b-3afd11891e65","accessControl_ssim":["6ef916c5-b18e-4a54-ab09-61c6780f87f3"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Instructor Burnout Cause and Effect and Developing Best Practices for Prevention and Recovery in Three Specific Groups"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-21T04:52:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-21T05:01:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d9581512-97df-498b-9928-70bf753e0032"],"hasLease_ssim":["9b6f60bc-3139-44f6-b8ef-4c86555b0498"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University "],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project began by describing the role of hospice care as part of end-of-life-care\r\nservices. It then looked into the perceived biases (both theological and cultural) related to the Indian Christian population.\r\n\r\nThe research was conducted in the form of a survey with forty families and ten pastors that represented various denominations and language groups. The survey assessed how the families of the deceased viewed hospice care and why they chose to accept or decline these services for their loved ones. The response from the survey was analyzed and categorized into areas of theology, culture, and education.\r\n\r\nThe research results showed that the lack of knowledge related to hospice care among Indian Christians was a significant factor in their reluctance to use this service. It also showed that there were cultural factors that contributed to the lack of interest in this service by the families. This study proves that there is a need for further education related to hospice care among the Indian Christian population in this community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821153256551743488,"timestamp":"2025-01-13T16:51:27.013Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:37:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:37:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8838d32c-bf88-45a3-be89-acc8e3c230c6","accessControl_ssim":["8b0ed12f-6522-463a-b846-4b408ab9b183"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Challenges Facing the Next Generation of Indian Pentecostal Diaspora Churches in Chicagoland"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:37:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:37:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["80bcfc41-ed58-4781-9dc4-4bd40604da82"],"hasLease_ssim":["3600a837-bf37-47fe-9582-9ef9df263838"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. As part of this project, I conducted an online survey of forty-seven people and interviewed ten people from the 2nd generation Indian Pentecostal diaspora to identify the reasons related to their leaving their respective churches. The study was done over two months, and the results provided a better understanding of the issues contributing to their decision. The survey revealed that the lack of spiritual growth, church politics, and lifestyle issues such as lack of role models and emphasis against wearing jewelry were the primary reasons for the 2nd generation leaving the Indian Pentecostal diaspora churches in Chicagoland.\r\n\r\nThe study results also showed that while most of those who left the Indian Pentecostal diaspora churches in Chicago still identified as Pentecostals, they chose to attend ‘non-denominational’ churches regularly. Most respondents agreed that they missed the community aspect of the Indian Pentecostal church but concluded that they would not return to an Indian Pentecostal Church in the future. The results of this project provide the data that will help the Indian Pentecostal Churches in Chicagoland better understand the thought process behind the silent exodus of the 2nd generation from their Churches."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821152376685330432,"timestamp":"2025-01-13T16:37:27.907Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b6137f7e-7f50-4a6c-beb5-97c499be8f23","accessControl_ssim":["a9bf103b-f57e-4ad9-aaf0-17e6465dc548"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["The Impact of Cultural Diversity Month Towards Equipping and Unleashing an Intercultural Congregation for Gospel Outreach"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-01-13T16:19:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ffed1725-c0b3-4527-9516-feb5d67a259e"],"hasLease_ssim":["23aabd85-41d1-4d49-bd78-c42bec9e89e4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project corresponded with SVBC’s mission of “equipping and unleashing cultures and generations to authentically live out the Gospel everywhere” and addresses the importance of intercultural unity as a core biblical value.\r\n\r\nThe project’s approach integrates theological foundations, such as the imago Dei and imago Christi, biblical reconciliation, and the redemptive mission of God for all peoples, explored through a sermon series with themes of Identity, Lament, Reconciliation, and Mission. This theological framework sets the stage for qualitative research conducted through focus group interviews to analyze the perspectives of SVBC members on the impact of Cultural Diversity Month. Key findings include enhanced cultural awareness, new relational connections across cultural lines, and a deeper engagement with biblical themes of unity and diversity. Participants expressed a sense of shared identity in Christ, an appreciation for diverse expressions of worship, and a strengthened commitment to living out SVBC’s mission in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nThe project concludes with practical recommendations for SVBC, including steps for ongoing intercultural integration, the development of culturally sensitive outreach strategies, and strengthening SVBC’s mission through regular worship that reflects the congregation’s cultural diversity. The insights gained from this project offer potential insights for other churches aiming to establish an intercultural community that reflects the global body of Christ, supporting a\r\ncongregation that worships, serves, and grows together across cultural boundaries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1821151245933477888,"timestamp":"2025-01-13T16:19:29.537Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0c77416b-f72c-4c49-afc1-ea0425a73afa","accessControl_ssim":["f808fb41-b8ca-44db-9c52-cfd3a440eefe"],"depositor_ssim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"title_tesim":["Proclaiming the kingship of Jesus : how pastors proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in a culture awash in pluralism"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-12-06T23:02:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2b35a1ed-8cdf-4e44-9e3a-f1eb57dc0a8b"],"hasLease_ssim":["5ca6ed22-d3c9-4835-8616-cbb91bd21f6e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2023"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Not only is there ongoing confusion about the concept of the kingdom of God, but pastors also proclaim the gospel of the kingdom of God in a culture awash in pluralism.\r\n\r\n Using a basic qualitative research design, this study conducted semi-structured interviews with multiple pastors experienced in preaching the kingdom of God. The interviews focused on gaining data with four research questions: 1) how do pastors describe the kingdom of God is at hand, 2) what challenges do pastors face, 3) what strategies do pastors use, and 4) what outcomes do pastors desire when proclaiming the kingdom of God is at hand to congregations living in pluralistic societies?\r\n\r\n The literature review focused on three key areas to gain a broader understanding proclaiming the kingdom of God is at hand in a pluralistic society: the meaning of Jesus’s proclamation in Mark 1:15, the relationship between the church and the kingdom of God, and the practices of preachers who proclaim the gospel of the kingdom in a pluralistic society.\r\n\r\n This study concluded that greater clarity is needed for pastors who proclaim the kingdom of God is at hand in pluralistic societies. To provide this clarity, this study identified several key components and practices for pastors, including, defining the kingdom of God in the abstract, regularly preaching the kingship of Jesus, humbly addressing kingdom misunderstandings, helping people imagine the kingdom, remembering repentance, and desperate dependence on the Holy Spirit.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.covenantlibrary.org/etd/2023/Whitley_Jonathan_DMin_2023.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["library@covenantseminary.edu"],"_version_":1817733932566708224,"timestamp":"2024-12-06T23:02:45.549Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
