This thesis examines how a Christian/Christ-follower identity is formed, by expanding on an existing theistic model of spiritual identity development and a contemporary psychological model of autobiographical consciousness that describes the importance of language acquisition on an emerging sense of self. I make an argument that spiritual identity develops through exposure to sacred texts and faith practices, and more importantly the language and vocabulary that comprise them. Sacred texts contain language that forms a particular narrative about who a Christ-follower is, and what it means to be a Christ-follower and create the narrative structure. around which a person can form their own Christ-follower/Christian spiritual identity. Integral to the concept of radical Lutheranism is the inherent obligation for the church to be radically different from other mainline Protestant churches, and to be an active agent for social justice within American culture. This analysis takes a fresh look at Forde’s recommendations in today’s context. It suggests that the time is ripe for change in our current culture, that the ELCA is primed for change more than it was three decades after its formation, and that it can become a formidable change agent for our time as a role model for all mainline Protestant churches in America. Based on an understanding of key Lutheran doctrine, Forde outlined a theological approach to social justice that is even more relevant now than it was when he articulated his vision for a unique Lutheran church identity. Forde’s historically conservative approach to Lutheran social action is a contemporary guideline on how the ELCA can lead change efforts in our current environment."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/13286e99-1de2-409b-9d4e-2640d98a2dfd?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-approving","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-depositing","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["13286e99-1de2-409b-9d4e-2640d98a2dfd"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Master's Theses"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["a73e1c05-49cd-4a4b-93e7-8fd66694bdf5"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["13286e99-1de2-409b-9d4e-2640d98a2dfd"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Theses and Dissertations"],"account_cname_tesim":["ctschicago.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"read_access_person_ssim":["randall.tyson@ctschicago.edu"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"_version_":1796528003158638592,"timestamp":"2024-04-16T21:23:35.317Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-04-08T22:36:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-07-03T16:19:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4da0b38c-9ddf-4789-982e-7b848fda8d5e","accessControl_ssim":["478800d6-1338-4c5e-96dd-a9009ba6760d"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["ad928024-fbe3-4ccb-a6d6-31047ffba74e"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["ad928024-fbe3-4ccb-a6d6-31047ffba74e"],"depositor_ssim":["muhammad.abduljami@ctschicago.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["muhammad.abduljami@ctschicago.edu"],"title_tesim":["Adab and Artistry: Shaping the Future of African American Muslim Boys"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-04-08T22:36:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-07-03T16:19:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["68f0a1c8-5146-48bd-a76f-0bfc63767f86"],"hasLease_ssim":["a1bcd7db-b6ba-40fd-bb80-e72ddfb50dc8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["0"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["0"],"institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Islamic Education"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"department_tesim":["Bayan Islamic Graduate School"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["Thesis"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Abdul-Jami, Muhammad"],"keyword_tesim":["Black American","Islamic education","Religious Education","Muslim Youth","African American ","Raising Muslims in America"],"subject_tesim":["African American Muslim Boys","Islamic Schools","Muslim Youth Development","Islamic Education","African Americans--Religion"],"abstract_tesim":["African-American Muslim adolescent males are at a pivotal juncture, facing unique challenges and opportunities within the rapidly evolving social, cultural, and technological landscapes of modern society. In this critical phase of their development, there is an urgent necessity for a hands-on, experiential approach to education that goes beyond traditional academic learning and religious training. This thesis posits that such an educational framework, deeply rooted in Islamic values and teachings, yet dynamically integrated with practical life skills and contemporary knowledge, is essential to effectively guide these young individuals. By emphasizing practical training, mentorship, and community engagement, this educational approach aims to foster the holistic growth of African-American Muslim teenage teens, empowering them to mature into well-rounded, confident, and competent Muslim men who can navigate the complexities of modern life while adhering to their faith and contributing positively to their communities and the broader world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/ad928024-fbe3-4ccb-a6d6-31047ffba74e?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-approving","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-depositing","admin_set/default-one_step_mediated_deposit-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["ad928024-fbe3-4ccb-a6d6-31047ffba74e"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Master's Theses"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["a73e1c05-49cd-4a4b-93e7-8fd66694bdf5"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["ad928024-fbe3-4ccb-a6d6-31047ffba74e"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Theses and Dissertations"],"account_cname_tesim":["ctschicago.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"read_access_person_ssim":["muhammad.abduljami@ctschicago.edu"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"_version_":1836643335073169408,"timestamp":"2025-07-03T16:19:37.058Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:34:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:37:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7a55cd8c-5fd5-40de-84e6-18f445723d47","accessControl_ssim":["900218f7-c3a0-49b6-8cac-77d3416e70ee"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Revealing the Unknown God: Acts 17:16-34 as Luke's Paradigm for Evangelism in a Biblically Illiterate Culture"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:34:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:44:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4a140d66-06e2-4c08-8d22-ab5d4e97e5e2"],"hasLease_ssim":["dd48e452-addf-4e53-9442-bc6f982b3839"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Contemporary Church Leadership"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["University of Chester"],"year_tesim":["2015"],"location_tesim":["United Kingdom"],"resource_type_tesim":["Dissertation"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Timothy Paul Wilson M.A."],"keyword_tesim":["Evangelism--Theory","Evangelism--Study and Teaching","Evangelism"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. In the first section, two arguments against seeing Acts 17:16-34 as a Lucan paradigm are examined. Chapter two examines the arguments of those who claim that this speech is in no way an example of Pauline preaching but is rather the work of Luke or some later redactor. It is argued that there are no ultimately persuasive reasons to accept this view of the reliability of the speech. Chapter three presents the ideas of those who believe that the speech was a failure on the basis of issues such as the small number of converts and insights from the early Chapters of 1 Corinthians. These commentators believe Paul later repented of the approach he took at Athens. Again the essay examines these arguments and ultimately concludes that there is no reason to see the speech as anything other than successful. Section two asks what example Acts 17:16-34 sets for readers. Commentators have differed over their understanding of what Paul is doing here. Some argue that the speech represents a work of assimilation with Greek philosophy, others a critique of Greek idolatry and other groups some combination of the two. This essay will argue for a contextualised critique methodology. It sees critique as Paul’s primary purpose in the speech but acknowledges the way that his message is contextualised to be understandable to his hearers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.academia.edu/attachments/80431137/download_file?st=MTY0NDMzNjE3OSw4Ni4xNjguMTM4LjExNiwyNjMyMDAxNA%3D%3D\u0026s=profile\u0026ct=MTY0NDMzNjE4MCwxNjQ0MzM5MTM2LDI2MzIwMDE0"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127061426864128,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:37:55.903Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:11:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:47:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c9350110-5cac-49d6-8f36-2e3680c96e06","accessControl_ssim":["e667ecdc-4d3d-4981-b1e1-159d5e47e64d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Postmortem Preaching and Primopetrine Polemics"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:11:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:54:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["861f6ccd-09ef-4a41-831c-d00d23a2c9c0"],"hasLease_ssim":["6d442986-0eba-4d01-b432-e9dc238bc874"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Exegetical Theology"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Chapman, David"],"year_tesim":["2019"],"resource_type_tesim":["Thesis"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Wooden, Anselm Asaph"],"keyword_tesim":["Evangelism"],"subject_tesim":["Church history","Theology, Doctrinal","Bible. A number of theologians, both ancient and recent, have suggested that these will have an opportunity to hear the Gospel after they die and that those who repent and trust in Christ for salvation in response to this message will be saved. In support of this view, proponents have put forward several Bible passages, but the case depends on the interpretation of 1 Peter 3:19 and 4:6. On close examination of these verses within their cultural and literary context, neither of them supports the view which has been alternatively been called “postmortem evangelism,” “future probation,” or “divine perseverance.” Since the Biblical case for this view depends on 1 Peter, it seems that there is no Scriptural warrant for it. Though many theologians have addressed this question throughout history, there remains a greater need to engage this question from the standpoint of the Bread of Life Discourse. With the intention of answering this question solely through Scriptural exegesis, the author chose to conduct an exegetical study of the Discourse as it is recorded in John 6:22-59. After examining the structure and historical context of the passage, she deemed it necessary to address whether the Discourse and the sacrament were related, and if so, the nature of that relationship. Through linguistic, structural, and historical considerations of John 6:22-59, she concluded that the passage at hand is indirectly related to the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. The Discourse and sacrament share key Christological teachings. The scope of this project yielded a list of the various gifts Christ gives to the one who “comes and believes,” or “partakes” of him, as well as a description of each. This study is a valuable resource for the Church as it provides a deeper understanding of the spiritual realities surrounding the Lord’s Supper. The Supper is a binding, covenantal act believers perform, in which they receive visible, tangible signs and seals of Christ’s benefits given to them."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://covenantlibrary.org/etd/2019/Milgate_Andrea_MAET_2019.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131189525872640,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:43:32.765Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:10:11Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:41:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7ce22f37-a77f-4fb5-86ba-b8c216344246","accessControl_ssim":["b79f2f89-6689-4c69-a6ff-4db6bc3cbae7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Romans 13:1-7: An Historical and Exegetical Analysis"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:10:10Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:49:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["120e2ca1-a4a6-4d32-b9f0-9a1a3c7a877d"],"hasLease_ssim":["b296ce5d-ea72-4431-8bee-60b45f67113d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Exegetical Theology"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Chapman Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2018"],"resource_type_tesim":["Thesis"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Schmalhofer, Travis A."],"keyword_tesim":["Church and community","Church (Ecclesiology)"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the history of interpretation on Romans 13:1-7, and then to provide a fresh interpretation of it, with interaction from modern commentaries. Some key questions about Romans 13:1-7 have arisen over the centuries: (1) To whom does Paul refer when he talks about the “governing authorities”?; (2) Whose judgment does Paul reference in vs. 2? Is God the judge in view, or is it the governing authorities?; (3) Does Paul condone capital punishment in vs. 4, where he references the sword?; (4) Does “wrath” refer to eternal condemnation, or temporal punishment in vs. 4?; (5) What does Paul mean by referring to the governing authorities as “God’s servants” and “ministers of God”? Is he putting them on a par with ecclesiastical authorities?; (6) Is this passage supposed to be understood as a universal rule for the Church throughout history, or was it intended to be guidance for the Christians in Rome around A.D. 55? After a concise introduction, there is a detailed annotated translation of Romans 13:1-7, which provides insight into the translational and interpretive decisions made by the author. After a general introduction in Chapter 1, then Chapters 2-4 present an analysis of some key figures in the history of interpretation from the Early Church to the Reformation. Specifically, we examine commentaries and sermons written by Origen, John Chrysostom, Augustine, Peter Abelard, William of St. Thierry, Nicholas of Lyra, Martin Luther, and John Calvin. Chapter 5 is devoted to a new examination of Romans 13:1-7 by the present author and modern commentaries are consulted throughout to provide an accurate interpretation of the passage."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["http://covenantlibrary.org/etd/2018/Schmalhofer_Travis_MAET_2018.pdf"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131051511250944,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:41:21.144Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:59:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:34:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0bd68134-5726-48c4-aed4-31c5eb2cec3f","accessControl_ssim":["ab5d2ccb-31d6-433a-8283-0621a62fa950"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A scientific and philosophic response to David Hume's essay \"Of miracles\" of 1748 / 1777"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:59:24Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:27:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5a23fd63-0fdf-440f-be2e-fdd1aa709683"],"hasLease_ssim":["cf7a8c5d-27cc-43a8-bb89-4ba135b86016"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Science and Religion"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern California Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ward Crocker D.Min."],"year_tesim":["2020"],"resource_type_tesim":["Thesis"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas Varallo M.A."],"subject_tesim":["Faith","Christianity and culture","Gifts, Spiritual"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["David Hume’s argument “Of Miracles” is considered the most famous and effective argument against miracles ever devised. Hume did not argue that miracles were impossible, but that the evidence in favor of a report of a miracle has never, and will never, outweigh the firm, unalterable experience of natural law. He argues that based on natural law (ontology) it is not reasonable to believe (epistemology) a report of a miracle. Thus Hume’s argument is epistemological, but based on ontological experience. This thesis argues that empirical scientific advances on human hemoglobin protein structure, and advances in philosophy of language and simplicity in the laws of nature, have exposed ontological weaknesses in Hume’s essay “Of Miracles” which serve to counter his epistemological conclusions, even when accepting naturalist presuppositions."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"related_url_tesim":["https://www.tren.com/e-docs/search.cfm?p129-0026"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718484615102464,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:34:55.538Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:57:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:20:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1950cebc-c42c-4c97-bf9b-7e5bf25e9809","accessControl_ssim":["7e9778ce-4097-4247-b2b9-f7e297189ad3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["\"Faithful To His Promises\": God'S Calling Of Starry Hasmatali As An Historic Indo-Trinidadian Member Of The Church Of God In Trinidad And Canada"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:57:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:52:18Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["040c10ec-4a87-40da-b301-6cf4f8b0868e"],"hasLease_ssim":["de5db743-5602-4368-8c6a-ba2665c15964"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Intercultural Studies"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Taylor Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Allan Effa Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2015"],"location_tesim":["Canada","Saskatchewan","India","Pakistan","Trinidad and Tobago"],"resource_type_tesim":["Other Terminal Project"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Duane Sterling Sims M.A."],"subject_tesim":["Prayer","Cross-cultural studies","Women in church work","Church renewal","Christianity and culture"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper is concerned with the case story of Starry Hasmatali, who was raised in Trinidad and immigrated to Canada: first to Toronto and then to Moose Jaw. I have decided to interview her in particular, because she was an integral member of an historic Indo-Pentecostal family in the Church of God (Cleveland TN), in Trinidad. With her late husband, Edward D. Hasmatali, they brought the Church of God (CoG) to the island, and were deeply involved in leadership training and church planting. Indo-Trinidadian Pentecostalism seems to be somewhat of an overlooked area of academic study, thus in interviewing Starry, I will seek to uncover their experiences in ministry in Trinidad and Canada, particularly in relation to their historic connection to the Church of God. I have also chosen to concentrate upon Indo- Trinidadian Pentecostals, since they comprise a significant section of the population of that country."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717589208793088,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:20:41.613Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:57:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:08:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b6eef799-d729-4c92-b118-505525638ffc","accessControl_ssim":["8aba7442-9b04-44b5-858a-4e4e22d62891"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Indigenous African Demonic Deliverance and its Transference into Pentecostalism with Subsequent Refining: Ghana and its Diaspora as a Case Study"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T18:57:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:24:38Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["19d7e87a-69b9-44d1-aa34-35636948c9a0"],"hasLease_ssim":["43dda8af-7330-4029-83dc-8e1b0aa6b9c7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Master of Arts"],"discipline_tesim":["Intercultural Studies"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Taylor Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Allan Effa Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2015"],"location_tesim":["South Africa","Africa","Ghana","Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["Other Terminal Project"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Duane Sterling Sims M.A."],"subject_tesim":["Bible.
