It aims to contribute to the spiritual formation of city congregants as they engage their neighbours. Using action research, sixteen members of a Toronto congregation participated and viewed their life as a context for mission. They studied Christ's discipleship in Matthew's gospel and reflected on the missio Dei, God's missionary character and initiative to redeem his creation.They partnered with agencies to initiate community service. The hypothesis was that learning from service is strengthened when students have opportunities for reflection. The project brought together high school students at Oregon Episcopal School in a workshop format to reflect on their service and its impact.
