It examines the elements of intuition, memory, imagination, and the commitment, as necessary components of spiritual discernment. Four active laity were recruited from the congregation in Milbank, South Dakota, to serve a Project Task Force (PTF). This group collaborated with the pastor, studied discernment, developed the instrument and process used for this project, and evaluated their process. A series of six prayer-training sessions were held to discuss issues of prayer and learn new methods.  An evaluation instrument was administered at the beginning and end of the process.  Included in the report is a theology and biblical support for the practice of private and corporate prayer, discussing historical and modern prayer movements. The pastors were organized (by region) into groups of four to six men.  In each of five consecutive months, they read an assigned book (a different book each month) and then met to discuss it.  Their reading and discussion provided continuing education.  Their being together provided an opportunity for fellowship.  The project report outlines the minister's continuing education and fellowship needs as suggested from Scripture and ministry-related materials.  The format of the project is then explored and analyzed.
