The project director analyzed new member assimilation data at Eastwood Baptist Church from 2009 until 2012 and discovered a low percentage of new member assimilation. The project director researched the fields of new member assimilation and strategy development along with the biblical basis of church membership. After the research segment the project director led Eastwood Baptist Church to create a New Member Orientation Committee to assist in developing a new member orientation strategy. The project director trained the New Member Orientation Committee to understand the basics of new member orientation and to develop a strategy to improve assimilation. To achieve the goals for this project, the project director utilized an equipping model. The first phase of the project involved researching many different resources in the field of discipleship, disciple-making, and spiritual disciplines. The project director utilized these resources to produce the lessons used to equip the selected group. The second phase was to develop lesson plans to teach in a seminar format. The final phase of the project involved implementing the seminar for the training of the selected group. The seminar consisted of an introduction session, ten lessons during five sessions, and a concluding session. The seminar was conducted on five Sunday evenings. This project included a quantitative paired-sample survey to evaluate the research data. Data analysis determined if a significant relationship existed which supported the hypothesis that implementation of a complexity leadership protocol could increase involvement of millennials as measured by beliefs, attitudes, and experiences. The number who actually become involved and active members is a small percentage of the visitors who come each Sunday morning. The main consideration is not the number of visitors, but the number of regular attendees who choose involvement and membership or leaving the church. Visitors will continue to come to see what the church might hold for their particular needs and interests. However, assimilation does or does not occur most commonly among those who have begun regular attendance and seek either to deeper in their involvement or turn back and perhaps leave. Specially adapted questionnaires and interview instruments yielded results that are recorded and analyzed in the course of this study. Suggestions are made as to steps how church leaders might take to incorporate and assimilate individuals into service, ministry, and greater membership involvement. Project components included exploring selected new member assimilation strategies and component resources, strategy development through a discipleship training leadership team of the church, and the presentation of a strategy to the church for adoption.  The project director guided the strategy development process by selecting and utilizing a team of leaders from the discipleship training program who collaborated in developing the plan.  The completed strategy plan was presented to the church body for adoption as part of the disciple-making processes for all new members of Gloster Baptist Church. The process used to reach this goal was to, first, educate the deacons on the need of the church to take intentional steps in the assimilating adult new members.  Second, the deacons were trained and given strategic roles in the assimilation process.
