This reflection explores the impact of Jesus' gift of peace to his disciples during his post-resurrection visits in John 20:19-31. Importantly, it carefully evaluates the relevance of this visit to all living in today's challenging and chaotic world.This work reveals that peace is a gift from God and that Jesus' salutation ('Peace be with you'), which communicates much peace and liberates every troubled soul, is still very much re-echoed to all today. Hence, it is still relevant for the continued restoration and sustenance of peace in both the individual and our entire world.Faith and humility are prerequisites for receiving the peace that Christ offers. Also, the Holy Spirit is a principal-agent in humankind's search for lasting peace, and peace is not primarily a characteristic of happenings in the world but also a human attitude and a characteristic of all who have received it.The title of this little book speaks for itself. The peace that Christ offers is still very much needed in every soul and in our world at large. It seeks to answer this question through a simple, exegetical inquiry into the meaning of pistis in Romans 3-4 and Galatians 2-3. Pistis is examined because its meaning is the heart of the debate. By looking at Paul's use of pistis in the surrounding context ofsix of the seven occurrences of pistis Christou, this project expands the evidence for a proper translation. This project is a culmination of Westbrook Church's experience as it sought to create congregational minstry allignment by means of new metaphor that would expression the mission of the church found in Matthew 28:18-20. Ruth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Homiletical theory has traditionally focused on a two-world paradigm-from what the text meant back then to what it means today. This project proposes an additional step in the movement from text to praxis via the intermediary of the theological focus for all types of literature, but especially for narrative. To test the effectiveness of this methodology, a five-part preaching series from the book of Ruth was evaluated to determine the model's effectiveness. This model involves seven biblical factors that function together in bringing God's people back to him in transformation and restoration. Chapter 1 introduces the thesis in the context of the background study and methodology and lays the foundation for the research dissertation. Chapter 2 exegetes the specific verses in Joel 1 and 2 that provide the model for Spiritual Awakening. Chapter 3 investigates whether the seven factors were present in the Four Great Awakenings in Early America from 1740 to the beginning of the 20th Century. Chapter 4 records the quantitative data from a survey of Texas Baptist Churches in the North Central Texas Council of Governments 16 county region and evaluates the critical interviews with the five members of the Solemn Assembly Team. The 'spirit' passages were selected by recognizing the literacy device of leitwart in the narrative text of 1 Samuel 10:1-16, 11:5-7, 16:1-23, 18:10-16, and 19:8-2. A sample of pneumatological preaching throughout history are analyzed. Relevant pneumatology is also discussed. After highlighting some conservative preaching models five key questions are provided in order to promote more accurate preaching of the doctrine of the Holy
