From rhetorical, theological, and ontological perspectives, Auctor adopted Exod 3:14 in his thesis statement (Heb 1:1-4) to be the most significant ontological signpost in his hermeneutic. The crux is that the name of God (i.e., YHWH) is revealed. Ontologically speaking, 'God speaks' is neither an Old Testament historical phenomenon, nor a Christ-event, but rather it is 'YHWH speaks' who timelessly and unchangeably reveals the reality of his Being and Word. The author and nine members of St John's United Methodist Church in Gbarnga, Liberia, studied the book of Exodus and focused on issues of contextualization.  They identified issues common to Hebrew and Kpelle cultures, and considered tribal elements such as proverbs, stories, idioms, and theology.
