A theology of original blessing needs to be heard from the pulpit. A correlation exists between original blessing theology and redemptive social action. Twenty-four interviews and three small group discussions were conducted. To validate the concept of a parental blessing the project explores biblical material and recent work in behavioral sciences.  The project designs and conducts a workshop that helps participants to externalize their stories of childhood trauma and receive blessing from other group members. Forty-five Caucasian males between the ages of thirty-five and forty-five complete a questionnaire based on the scriptural tradition and the psychoanalytic developmental theory of Peter Blos.  Paternal blessing is defined as the shared vital and life sustaining affirmation or confirmation of a son's worth by a significant adult male, a father or surrogate father.  Life satisfaction is defined as work satisfaction, non-father relational satisfaction, a general sense of life's meaning and completion of adolescence.
