The researcher examined the literature dealing with the promises of the covenant to parents and their children. The researcher conducted interviews with Christian parents who have adult church-dropout children, and adults who had been church dropouts and returned to faith. This determination will be made by interviewing and recording their responses to questions that are both open-ended and close-ended. Following this interview process, the author also interviewed a smaller sample from other local churches. A comparison of the responses helped the author determine how much of the New Covenant theology has been grasped and its effect on people's spiritual maturation. The results were encouraging and varied greatly between the two sample groups. He presents a theological backdrop for pastoral ministry that places relationship with God at the heart of the narrative, reviews writings of Gregory of Nyssa, Bernard of Clarvaux, Jonathan Edwards, and surveys germane material from neurobiology and attachmetn theorists. Even people who claim the Christian faith struggle with building healthy, happy, wholesome marriages that will endure for a lifetime. This deterioration of marriage tears at the fabric of the nuclear family, which also affects the health of the church family. In an attempt to curb the weakening marriages in my ministry setting, I proposed to lead a marriage retreat which focused on marriage as covenant, and which equipped couples with communication skills and conflict resolution techniques. My premise was that people can find hope for their marriages when they embrace God's ideal, which means living together in a covenant relationship and equipping themselves with proper relational tools. We examined how covenant theology and the theology of communication can inform our marriages. The covenant model was chosen because it most clearly defines several significant aspects of the Christian experience.  A believer's position in Christ, privileges, and responsibilities were all important topics of the course.  Chapter 2 defines covenant theology and expresses how this approach is beneficial to all believers. Chapter 3 reveals the foundational nature of all human development, including faith development.  Stage development theory, simply stated, is that all maturity progresses through a series of stages that are hierarchical in nature; meaning that they build upon one another. Christian maturity also depends upon a strong foundation for successful progress. It is based on a theology of covenant evangelism.  A central thesis of this work suggests that church membership is not simply a specific rite but is an ongoing covenantal relationship in a community of faith.  Data gained from the research and used in conjunction with existing literature yields an assimilation model which enables new members to enter into the life of the congregation with greater acceptance of responsibilities and with greater awareness of the opportunities for discipleship in the
