Working within the Catholic tradition the study utilizes the Whiteheads' methodology and engages charism, general chapter, and facilitation ministry in dialogue with a 'thick description' (Browning) of a multicultural general chapter.  Evidence emerges to indicate that attentiveness to the dynamism of charism through facilitation postively influenced the general chapter's through conflict to communion. The theological rationale is based on the three-dimensional definition of koinonia by Joseph Henry Thayer.  The theoretical section provides a definition of koinonia and establishes criteria for the formation of koinonia groups. Historic and contemporary examples of small groups are then examined and evaluated using Thayer's definition of koinonia. Thirteen laypersons were trained during seven sessions in the principles of leadership, small group discipleship, group building, and the inductive Bible study method.  These principles were applied to the existing adult Bible study program.  Evaluation procedures revealed a positive move from a basic lecture style of teaching to a relational style of teaching. There will be concentration on teaching new communication skills which will allow the members to relate to each other more effectively.  The hypothesis of this paper is: 1. facilitation with the members of a small local community will increase skills in communication, problem solving, sharing of feelings, confronting and challenging each other on issues significant to them, and 2. the group will be enabled to reduce its conflict and enhance its relational skills in a three-month period.  At the end of a three-month period an evaluation of the project by interviewing the participants and by giving them a written questionnaire will take
