Focus groups with ten open ended questions were used to elicit the data.  The study begins with a demographic overview of the major Hispanic groups represented in Chicago (Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban and Guatemalan).  The biblical review focuses on the principles of church planting modeled by Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Peter and Paul.  The literature review investigates church planting from a Hispanic perspective. This openness has to be encouraged because of the withdrawal, isolation, silence, and anger they may face during their hospital in-patient experience. These behaviors and dynamics are frequently present and noticeable in their dying/death events. The end of a patient's life gives a chaplain the opportunity to provide pastoral care. This ministry geared toward Hispanics allows them to the the recipients of spiritual healing. This presents a tremendous challenge and opportunity for the church in general, and for the African-American and Hispanic church in the Washington Metropolitan context in particular, to be involved in cross-cultural evangelism.  This project presupposes that cross-cultural evangelism will enhance positive social interaction between the two communities while highlighting the universality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The Great Commission is our mandate to evangelize cross-culturally. In doing so it will challenge social and political structures that create and tolerate poverty, civil strife, racism, sexism, and nationalistic egoism.  The research model was in the form of a case study and survey.  A questionnaire was disseminated to two local congregations in the Washington, DC area, one Hispanic and one African-American. The resulting data was analyzed to identify the present attitudes of both groups.  There is some evidence of favorable attitudes from both groups toward an African-American cross-cultural evangelistic ministry to the Hispanic
