The online questionnaire invited Christian African American women to respond to questions about themselves, internal and external to the workplace, and their challenges. The results discovered that the challenges faced are not unique to Christian African American women, but are relevant to all African American women. Can they then develop a means to share their faith with first-time visitors to Sunday morning worship? The author designed and led three different activities in which the arts were used as a vehicle for theological reflection. Through this process members were able to articulate their faith. Having successfully articulated their faith the author then led members through a process in which they designed and created a welcome bag. The bag contained objects that symbolized the faith articulated in the first part of this project. Consumerism is analyzed through its history and through its present key features, including the loss of certainty, individualism, choice, consumption, and commodification. By looking at individualism, branding and shopping, identity in a consumeristic world is examined. The answer lies in the adoption of practices, as defined by Alistair McIntyre. Hospitality, which is given as a model of practice, is examined starting from its biblical roots up to current proposals. The skill training included is in the context of seeking growth in the ability to claim deepened identity understandings in clinical encounter. The research assesses the data collected in case studies from three years of pastoral counseling.  The results show a number of differences in the role identity, in the depth or level of counseling and in the approach of the pastoral therapist. Research has shown that older adults are helped by someone who asks questions about the past.  Loneliness and depression are common symptoms of older adults.  Without a feeling that life has had meaning in the past it is easy to lose identity and integrity.  Life review helps maintain a person's integrity, identity, and self-worth.  It provides a legacy to the younger generation.  It can help a person cope with loss, grief, and depression. Information was obtained by open-ended interviews with Protestant Episcopal, United Methodist, and United Presbyterian clergymen (five from each denomination). Undergirding the conceptual framework of the study are developmental psychological findings primarily of Erikson, Levinson, Gould, Sheehy, Howe, and Sherrill.  The study also develops a theology of mid-life based upon the issues raised by entry into middle
