Mircea Eliade, Victor Turner and Paul Ricoeur provide the theoretical framework for congregational change, tested through direct observation, congergational focus groups, a survey, and interviews. Findings indicated that metanarratives are effective vehicles for conveying and shaping the church's values and identity, serving a corrective and evaluative function, renewing and healing. Dicussion includes the institutionalization of congregational myths, the role of the pastor, andn the relationship of myth and scripture."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126019409707008,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:21:22.158Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:35:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"eb6ce9e7-ad6e-45ba-bcfa-7750a4754b7b","accessControl_ssim":["a0d28dc2-0fc6-40df-9ce5-11bc98716c42"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["New life at First Church: identity formation for mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:35:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:51:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa503ef9-8f98-4831-820d-bcf60f90b62b"],"hasLease_ssim":["6c0c050f-ecb2-4aff-9dfd-531f7004233b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kenneth S Sawyer"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kenneth W Moore"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["First Christian Church (Helena, Mont)","Identity (Psychology)","Mission of the church","Church renewal--Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes to shift the focus of First Christian Church (Helena, Mont) from organizational maintenance and intimate family fellowship to engagement in God's mission.
