Though this is a frequent occurrence, the nature and unique stresses present in this type of family is not well-understood or explored within the counseling literature. The term Jewish intercultural families is used in this thesis rather that the more commonly used term, interfaith, because it is the emphasis of this thesis that while the couples' differences may contain a faith element, it is in essence a cultural difference. An approach is explored which encourages couples to think more broadly about the range of options available for them, by exploring five categories: identity, community, traditions, faith and extended family. Until recently, marriage and family therapists have been very reluctant to separate the ideas of religion, spirituality and culture. It is the conviction of this thesis that not only is this a critical part of helping Jewish intercultural families, but that a Christian approach to counseling in particular can help couples see the possibility of spiritual unity while maintaining communal and ethnic diversity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131942813433856,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:31.156Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:48:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"85d19389-f5c3-4585-9791-d401338f9875","accessControl_ssim":["3b810d02-c866-4346-ae88-83b44abe033f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The missionologucal implications of the religious itinerary of a West African people: the case of Anyii in Ghana"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:04:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1eb270a0-4796-4797-96d2-6a52bc09cb24"],"hasLease_ssim":["c415445b-ece2-4ce6-bbe5-8728b8f4e9f1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David A Currie"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph Quainoo"],"keyword_tesim":["Bible--Versions, African"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Anyi (African people)","Interfaith relations","Africans--Religion","Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Anyii are a large people group in West Africa with a distinct culture, now dispersed and separated by political boundaries with a field in church planting and ethnography that remains understudies and still begs for scholarly investigation. The gospel had made significant impact on Anyii yet some have rejected the gospel, remaining in pre-Christian spirituality or trained to serve at the mmosoe shrine. A Lutheran communicative contextualization process is introduced and emphasizes quad-cultural communication.
