It asked if the historical/theological narrative mandated a balance, how is it reflected and whether the contemporary church seeks to implement such in its ongoing worship.  A qualitative design, using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors and one worship director was implemented. In addition I interviewed experienced preachers about their own growth in this dimension of their preaching ministry. Six participants (18-35 years old) had lunch six times with the preacher. They gave sermon feedback, discussed the upcoming lectionary texts, and participated in an exit interview. From its beginning, the churches of the PROK have had the freedom to study and express their theological knowledge. The PROK reformed with the acceptance of contemporary biblical criticism over the strong fundamentalism which insisted on the infallibility of the Bible and the theory of its mechanical inspiration.  Sermons by chosen scholars, including sermons by Rev Chaejoon Kim, a founder of the PROK, and contemporary preachers, show the clear characteristics of PROK distinctions.  The sermons are scholarly, political, topical, in-directive, and based on a manuscript, but there are some excpetions, as well. This project suggests a few directions to reform the preaching in the PROK--that Reformed preaching should be holistic, biblical, didactic, and liberation oriented. It specifically examines visual art as that which not only helps preachers see the situation in which proclamation happens, but as that which also gives the preacher access to the metaphors, images and symbols that are bearers of what is essential to the Christian message.  Methodology includes qualitative analysis of visual portrayals of Jesus and the crucifixion, and analysis of children's drawings of Jesus from the perspective of R Arnheim's psychology of artistic perception.
