Through research and interviews, the author has come up with a convincing argument that radio is still one of the best ways of extending the ministry of the church. Research was done in current theory about the use and effectiveness of the medium, the situation in small-town America, the views of the leadership of the church about goals for the program; a random survey was taken to determine the composition of the present audience. Data gathered are the results of the evauation of a four month program for an alcohol prevention project.  Thirty two adults made up the target group.  Subjects were pre- and post-tested on the following variables:  building bonds, mobilizing coalitions, increasing awareness in skills and resources and mobilizing family and extended family. Results indicated that the program had a significant positive impact on the target subjects in reference to all variables tested.
