The author researched the exegetical clues within Hebrews to determine whether or not these influence the communication in preaching. He examined the author of Hebrews' words of encouragement compared to words of warning. He concluded that there is a philosophy of preaching within Hebrews that can be modeled by contemporary preachers. Esther"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was motivated by a desire to preach biblical narratives employing such literary/rhetorical devices as allusion, analogy, chiasmus, climax, metaphor, parallelism, personification, repetition, foreshadowing, and irony. If the biblical writers purposefully used rhetorical devices in their writings, then it seems to be a preacher's obligation to deliver sermons incorporating literary devices. The Book of Esther was the focus of this study, and was analyzed and interpreted from the literary/rhetorical point of view. He proposed that applying the rhetorical analysis by paying attention to the unique features of the narrative genre may help alleviate this problem.  He then carried out a field test with a teaching course designed to train Chinese preachers to apply rhetorical analysis to biblical stories.
