The author obtained data from students at all levels of enrollment, using a Likert Scale survey to determine knowledge and use of the following tools: computer, interlibrary loan, electronic books (e-books), electronic journals, online catalogs, and other college and university library online catalogs. As a result, participants indicated high-level knowledge of computers, and average to minimal knowledge and use of information resources via today's technology. Mentoring is highlighted as an alternative method for African Americans to meet field education requirements. Afrocentricity is an ideological foundation for the ministerial preparation of African American seminarians. The Afrocentric Mentoring Program demonstrates a culturally harmonious model of theological field education for African American students.
