They can be combined with evangelism to form the outreach ministry of the church to its community. Various Chinese churches in different countries have used this model of sharing the love and the gospel of Christ through evangelism and social services. The focus of this project is the development of a community ministry plan for a Chinese church in Canada. The author surveyed over a hundred and fifty Chinese churches in eastern Canada and conducted in-depth interviews with four of the churches with community ministry. Furthermore, three community service organizations in Ottawa where the author's church is located were interviewed in order to better assess the needs of the community. Based on the findings of the research, a plan is developed to implement community ministry. The plan consists of four steps: cultivating a vision for community ministry, mobilizing and equipping for community ministry, organizing for community ministry and partnering for community ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125333912584192,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:10:28.417Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:44:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:20:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cff2a4dc-39a6-4f76-9700-61cd40886c17","accessControl_ssim":["30b929a6-aaa6-4d8d-9e19-65ea5aedb282"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Educating at-risk African American girls, a community ministry: journey by faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:44:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:05:00Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c2a15d35-a447-40cb-a0a7-8ca6487bb833"],"hasLease_ssim":["cd72a815-5b22-4ea9-a6db-006f4857a3cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Laurence L Welborn"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lee E Ware"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Social service","Girls","African American children","Church work with children"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The 'I Can' project introduced a mentoring model for promoting self-esteem, building positive self-image, and reducing risk-taking behaviors among 10- and 11-year-old African-American girls. It explores the HIV/AIDS-related teaching and ministry of the guru H. H. Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati and her human care service organization the River Fund, both at Kashi Ashram in Sebastian, FL. After providing her developmental biography, it summarizes her verbal, artistic, and kinesthetic forms of teaching. She responds to HIV/AIDS with the Hindu concept of seva (service) that follows the Hindu religious path of Karma Yoga (action). The project then examines the history and work of the River Fund, paying a particular focus to its de facto AIDS hospice, the River House. The organization is unique in both the Hindu and American religious contexts. The project demonstrates how a medium-sized religious congregation successfully provides secular HIV/AIDS social services."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720409447268352,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:05:31.202Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:25:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:45:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fdc3c7d4-2d81-4cfd-9ccf-de49ce3aa89e","accessControl_ssim":["7040694a-3a5e-49f9-91b2-876d9ac54dea"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Deacon Formation Program Curriculum in the Diocese of Albany"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:25:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:23:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9975bfb5-6888-4df9-8f35-5b4a4ce919a0"],"hasLease_ssim":["8a9e7728-2947-4e1b-a739-16b379837196"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"],"advisor_tesim":["Les Fairfield"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Shaw Mudge"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Social service","Episcopal Church. Working with inadequate resources in an environment of need, they often sacrifice the well-being of the employees and volunteers who staff the ministry.
