The objective of this project was to determine if compassionate spiritual, emotional, and practical assistance to widows during the critical bereavement period would be helpful. The methodology selected for the model included a questionnaire, interviews, observations, and feedback. A pro-active / qualitative research design was used for this project. In our high tech society the evangelical church has neglected the care of widows by relegating much of its responsibility to secular agencies. This project is a summons to the church to return to the biblical priority of caring for widows in practical ways. Using personal interviews, surveys, statistical analysis, as well as traditional methods of research, the author sought to determine exactly how serious the problem of neglect toward widows is, what their needs are, and how the church might begin a viable ministry to address these needs. Participants were required to complete ministry visits and report on their experiences.  Project sessions included testing on the material presented, discussion of the presentations, and evaluations of the individual sessions and the completed project.  The church was involved through a series of sermons presenting basic material from the project.  Evaluation testing of recently widowed senior adults involved in the ministry visits, as well as group participants, revealed that the objectives of the project were
