The use of a worship committee is a logical outgrowth of a theology of participation.  The basic purpose of the study was to develop a worship committee planning model and to test this model by offering a training course to worship planners from four diverse Mennonite congregations.  The effectiveness of the model and the course were evaluated by course participants.  Both were strongly affirmed. The concept of faith and faith stages developed by James W Fowler is used to inform an instrument-questionnaire of 14 general faith categories (for examples, God, justice, symbols, prayer, etc).  Upon completion of the questionnaire ten active and ten inactive members were interviewed.  The active members averaged a 4.1 score in the six stages and inactive members averaged a 3.8 score. The study attempted to equip thirteen participants for this challenge by involving them in cognitive, affective, active, and votive dimensions of learning.  The project initiated: 1) dialogue with the poor; 2) involvement in an unfair job situation; 3) interest in a local advocacy group.  The study evaluated these results by interpreting session tape recordings, leaders' observations, and participants' written evaluations. The project instructs worship leaders and congregations in the overall theology of baptism and how to express that theology through the design and implementation of a baptismal liturgy.  The project was implemented in two phases.  The first was an eight-week study of the institution, meanings, and practice of baptism. The second phase was to design and implement a baptismal liturgy that focused on the celebration of baptism as an act of worship. The project explores the theological implications of Jung's effort to integrate the light and dark, the masculine and feminine, the conscious and unconscious aspects of the God image in treating the problem of evil. The project demonstrates how a monotheistic understanding of God might temper the dualistic tendency in the Christian tradition and thus bring wholeness to the individual's understanding of God, self, and community. It examines the various Christian attitudes toward war (crusades, pacifism, just-war, and nuclear pacifism).  The report outlines historical, biblical, and theological bases for the various Christian responses.  Methodology includes research, teaching five fifty-minute seminary classes, written evaluations by students and an official observer, and critical reflective action.  The project shows positive results, raises interesting questions, and highlights some moral ethical implications for future study and Christian action.
