Authority is traditionally understood as legitimated power. Authority like other forms of power can be corrupted. Authority as domination needs to be examined in the preaching situation also. The preachers' authority is a crucial problem in contemporary society and therefore new understandings of authority emerge. The authors' questions are: how can the preacher share the experience of God and life with the community through preaching? With different groups in the community can the preacher be an authority, but not the only one? Authority in diversity and partnership is a challenge for preaching in the future."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133228973686784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:57.734Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:27:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:55:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4e9c2733-7948-4e90-9170-995439b9af17","accessControl_ssim":["3db0b1d6-e85a-4b50-a914-ed0e15ac34d8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Great minds don't think alike: revitalizing adult education through multiple intelligences"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:26:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:26:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3ea2971a-e9b6-46af-b9fa-79d8ed0ae3d2"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b52addf-2070-4baf-a355-615bee8b2048"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Elizabeth Francis Caldwell"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Linda Wright Simmons"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religious education of adults","Multiple intelligences","Gardner, Howard"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["We make idols of a narrow range of aptitudes now used in adult Christian education classes, and fail to make use of the varieties of gifts which adults bring. The author explores the lived experience of the lost soul, examining the process of humanity's struggle from existence to essence, and the impediments to that process. The analysis was grounded in Tillich and Ricoeur and the psychological theories of Rizzuto, Meissner and Freud. Ministry with persons living in the dark world of the lost soul involves trying to help them focus within themselves, where they may begin to find the essence of their identity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719989922496512,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:58:51.112Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:26:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:48:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"79d97cc0-6a36-4859-aa22-4d8afde2513b","accessControl_ssim":["8681b722-fbae-4e07-a663-0c50cbbc85c0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Development and implementation of a stewardship program: Seventh-day Adventist Church, Calhoun, Georgia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:26:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:43:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e5fb5f85-c0df-4090-bf38-d63e675740ee"],"hasLease_ssim":["5768d872-9d42-44eb-86d3-dc3d7669a088"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andrews University"],"advisor_tesim":["James I North"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul S Hoover"],"publisher_tesim":["Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary of Andrews University"],"subject_tesim":["Stewardship","Seventh-day Adventist Church (Calhoun, Ga)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The task of this project was to increase the participation among the membership of Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church with the financial stewardship need of the congregation. Information concerning the church's financial needs was presented and personal testimonies of stewardship by church leadership were shared with the congregation. Analysis demonstrates that biblical sensory appeal is functional as well as consistent. Categories of functional purpose emerge for each of the five senses.
