I will also determine if clergy morale and the burn-out rate are directly related to whether or not one has a committed and disciplined spiritual life. The project compiles information collected from an anonymous survey distributed among local church clergy in the Central Texas Conference. The practicum/project was begun in January, 2005, after the survey had been created the previous November. Surveys were collected over a six week period and then the information was tallied over the next three months. Those completing the requested information were told verbally or in writing that it was an anonymous survey and they were not to sign it anywhere on the three-page questionnaire. This project is designed, through an expository sermon, to reintroduce the listener to a premarital process (courtship) that in the past produced more solid and committed marriages in the history of America, but unfortunately has been long forgotten. In this study a pre-sermon survey was taken to cull the respondents' preconceived ideas about the subject of courtship followed by the preaching of a message on the subject of virtue of courtship rather than traditional American dating. Following the preaching of the sermon, a post-sermon survey was taken to see if the respondents' opinions had changed based on the information they received from the sermon. Did this sermon persuade the respondents to change their opinion and consider the premarital process of courtship as a more virtuous process than traditional dating? That is the answer this project seeks to find out. It grew out of the director's need to build a team to lead the church in building and relocating to a new facility and his need to encourage team-building skills.  A three-day retreat and four monthly workshops were created to train the team in biblical team-building concepts. The primary area to which the project relates is in disciple making of Digo believers with oral learning preferences.  At the conclusion of the project all of the participants had demonstrated the ability to learn and retell biblical narratives to others and to explain theological concepts found within the narratives. Chapter 1 expresses three goals: expand one's theological knowledge, change one's behavior, and develop a greater value of expository preaching.  Chapter 2 argues the importance of justification from a Reformed perspective.  Chapter 3 relates Bernice McCarthy's 4MAT learning theory, Raymond Wlodkowski's six motives for learning, and Stephen Brookfield's obstacles to learning to expository preaching.  Chapter 4 discusses how communication and learning was implemented into the project. Being bilingual is not sufficient. Thus a method for culturally informed ministry is presented: (1) Awareness of the fundamental importance of culture for pastoral ministry; (2) Knowledge of one's own culture and the other culture(s); (3) Cross cultural ministerial skills. Groome's model was applied to ministry in Mexican American faith communities.
