The Russian Orthodox Church with its lack of spiritual Reformation and its suppression of evangelistic movements could not change the moral values of Russian society.  Because of persecution the Russian Evangelical Church never had the opportunity to affect the society.  Sadly, the Western Christian organizations that came to Russia in the late 1980s were not designed to fit the Russian environment and consequently had no moral impact on the Russian people.  Thus, Russia faces a national dilemma: the need to overcome its chaos and become a true democratic society.  Although past efforts have failed, Christianity still holds the key.  Basic moral values need to be reintroduced in to the conscience and belief system of the Russian people. Only a healthy Christian Church can train up a new generation who will build a governmental and economic system based on the revealed truth of God's Word.  It is the hope of the Russian Center for church Multiplication (RCCM), with its healthy church model, ten principles, evaluation, and accountability tools, that Russia will emerge as a country of moral stability. Therefore, the preacher/pastor must include therapeutic sermons within the preaching calendar.  The purpose of this research was to focus on the necessity and the nature of preaching expository sermons that are therapeutic from biblical, theological, and historical perspectives.  The concept of therapeutic absorbency was introduced as being a necessary part of therapeutic preaching.  A defense of expository preaching as the appropriate method for preaching therapeutic sermons was also given.  The literature review integrated the contributions of authors on preaching and on preaching as it relates to pastoral care. This served as the basis for the development of a curriculum for a workshop. Chinese students and scholars to explore how and why they came to the Christian faith in the United States and how cultural difference affected their accepting Christian faith. Hence, in light of the Reformed theology of missio Dei (the mission of God), an evangelism and discipleship strategy can be formed for CEC to be more effective to minister to these Mainland Chinese intellectuals. In the sermons attached, preached during the fall of 2004 in a rural congregation on the west coast of Sweden, I have tried to use specific concrete details, as a means to convey God's love.  During the process, much of the focus moved, from the question of using details in general, to the more specific question of how to convey grace.  It became very clear to me, how easy it is to be specific and concrete in describing the law, or the problems in this world, and how difficult it is to be concrete as to grace and God's presence.  Very often that part is expressed more in abstractions and principals, by way of which you risk to leave people with a vivid experience of the law, and a sense of despair, as God's intervention seems so weak.  The conclusion of the thesis is that it is utterly important for the preaching, to move closer. In Scripture and Lutheran theology the Good News is more than justification.
