First were the many social issues that arose during group discussions, especially from students newly transplanted to the Boston, New England, area from other countries and how these issues impacted their personal spirituality. Second was the difficulty of some of these ministerial students in relating American methodology reflected in the reading material, with the overall cultural attitudes of their congregants who had been raised in other nations. The research material, as well as the information provided from the methodology utilized through systems thinking seeks to inform those of us desiring to develop a more diverse understanding in pastoral care in an increasingly multicultural society. The various literature and causal loop diagrams assisted in examining the spiritual, social, and emotional data needed to strengthen Mentored Ministry students in their pastoral roles in church and within their community. The resulting information revealed a clear need for those attending the class sessions and Peer Theological Groups to recognize a broader scope required in pastoral care as ministers within their various church and para-church positions. The final student comments indicate the impact of specific reading material and lectures over the course of the fall and spring semesters of the years 2000-2001."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130907663400960,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:03.960Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:01:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:36:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"aea22bf5-9ae7-4495-b589-960db8ac34a2","accessControl_ssim":["fc5577b3-7273-46e1-a2fc-d49c99678c47"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Designing and assessing the need for a hispanic institute of lay leadership in central Florida"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:01:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:10:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c81c0eb6-81e0-482d-8aa2-a1c89e6cedfa"],"hasLease_ssim":["465595a5-7616-4daa-8f00-5d751ccfd738"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David R Sawyer"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["Florida"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carmelo Mercado"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Hispanic Americans--Missions","Presbyterian churches--Education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis was to design and assess the need for a Hispanic Institute of Lay Leadership in Central Florida. This research attempts to give new ways of searching for the presence of the Holy by exploring the intersection of theology, the faith stories of five congregations in the Presbytery of Arkansas, and the architecture of the building complexes of those congregations. The research employed the method of qualitative analysis to find recurrent themes in the faith stories of the congregations as told by long-time members, analyzing those stories through the lens of Reformed theology, and contrasting those findings with the church's architectural expression of faith. The study found that each congregation expresses its faith in unique ways, both in story form as well as structurally, but that Presbyterians need reinforcement of our verbal vocabulary to articulate how we understand the Holy to be among us as a particularly called people of God. Our spaces and places give us tools for expressing our faith if we will spend the time and energy to learn the language."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7d2ba5b6-aeec-459a-aaec-e1eed75d32f0"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134392403361792,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:34:27.267Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:42:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e1e34d55-aeaf-48f5-b9c8-6d8d074fd8ce","accessControl_ssim":["f57ce609-1304-4488-85b9-059453af28ce"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An evaluation of Fenton Road Baptist Church using the self-guided church consultant"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:35:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["95782e18-022c-455d-9bf4-46e4d52bd207"],"hasLease_ssim":["788897ba-730f-4117-be97-f4837d7cb82a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael S Lawson"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas J Loyola"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Fenton Road Baptist Church","Church management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project researched the question, 'Will the results of applying the Self Guided Church Consultant (SGCC) reveal a misallocation of resources in the opinion of Fenton Road Baptist Church's (FRBC) leadership team?' For the purposes of this paper, the use of multimedia is defined as: the use of projected images and video of popular films. The conviction of this thesis - that multimedia can have an overall positive effect on the preacher as well as the listeners of a sermon - is based on personal preaching experience, class work and reflection during a three year preaching project. The thesis explores and reflects on field experience as well as dialogue with several writers, including Richard Jensen and Thomas Troeger. The thesis builds on the work of Paul Tillich who identifies the human condition in terms of estrangement. This thesis suggests that use of multimedia can only illuminate the human condition, not provide the cure. However, due to changes in culture, multimedia may uniquely serve as a more effective tool for communicating the Gospel message, which indeed is the answer to estrangement. Included in the thesis are summary multimedia rules, which are the result of my preaching experience and study. These rules are intended to offer general findings that may be useful to other preachers."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134015694045184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:28:28.009Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:21:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"658d52e2-8ad6-40c3-95b2-e09c5ee86573","accessControl_ssim":["1db33be8-dc48-4157-81f4-7bdf70723304"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching evangelism: empowering to invite by inviting to respond"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:06:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["127be505-23ae-4eab-9fe5-011f729d793f"],"hasLease_ssim":["b8e48618-8d2a-46b2-8c64-9b56431d78c7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Morris J Niedenthal"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John E Knutson"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelistic work","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis asks will a congregation be empowered for outreach by preaching themes of evangelism coupled with an immediate opportunity to respond. This paper explores the topic of change, in light of the many changes occurring today in the Roman Catholic Church. Drawing upon scripture, church history, contemporary secular change management literature, spirituality (especially spirituality employed in the past during times of change), and certain theologies, this paper charts one spiritual path people can follow during times of change in the church. It begins with an exploration of the process of change in general. What are the reasons people resist change, especially changes in the church? What are some of the emotions we can expect to feel as we are going through change? Do these emotions hold up to the light of scrutiny? Sometimes when we examine our feeling in light of reality we find that the feelings are baseless or have a basis in something other than the immediate change to which we are trying to adapt. Change within a religious context is explored, and some theological approaches to change are considered. Finally, the author describes a unique spiritual approach to change which has been successfully offered as reflection sessions during the years 2001-2003 in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, NY. These reflections are entitled 'The LEAP of Faith,' with LEAP being an acronym representing four essential components of this particular approach: Learning, Experience, Action, and Prayer. Participants in these reflection sessions have included professional Diocesan and parish staffs, volunteers, clergy, professed religious and parishioners. The overwhelming majority of participants, across all categories, have reflected favorably upon this unique spiritual approach to change."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128040232714240,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:53:29.364Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:48:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8124121f-9a0e-4a57-8c57-69cac9bf71a7","accessControl_ssim":["5c48cc4a-92eb-4cd3-93c6-f47901d35223"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A student manual and teaching supplement for the book Biblical preaching, by Dr. Haddon Robinson"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:56:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["45d68be6-3806-4ffb-ac02-6d5c130e086c"],"hasLease_ssim":["a19b3bdd-aca3-4bf9-b97d-4a84a2525a28"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sid Buzzell","Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert A Permenter"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Robinson, Haddon W","Christian education--Teaching methods","Dick, Walter","Preaching--Study and teaching","Expository preaching","Carey, Lou"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis helps college level students apply the principles of the book Biblical Preaching, by Dr. Haddon Robinson. A Student Manual and a Teaching Supplement are provided to accomplish that task. Because Biblical Preaching is conceptual by nature, the principles can be difficult to remember and harder yet to apply for the typical minister. This thesis attempts to make those concepts easier for the student to remember and apply. It also provides teaching strategies and goals for the teacher. The thesis uses an indicative approach to teaching rather than a deductive approach. It also uses The Systematic Design of Instruction, by Walter Dick and Lou Carey, for teaching to offer exact goals and measurable objectives. While the thesis provides concrete activities to reinforce the principles in Biblical Preaching, it does not attempt to add new ideas or information to those principles."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131483479474176,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:48:13.101Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:00:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:43:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6de4619d-e031-4782-84ac-e171115f36cb","accessControl_ssim":["93f65c09-ddc0-4bf1-8a89-88e9e5c12d35"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["For the love of preaching: the life story of Howard F. It is concerned with addressing questions influencing the current stage of the evangelical church and the subsequent impact on church leadership. The primary premise of the work is that by nature we are all creative beings. If God is a creator God, and we are created in His image, then there is something in us that seeks to create, and see the works of our hands and say, 'it is good.' Therefore, a goal of leadership is to bring out creativity in people. The term creative expression is used in this work to describe the creative process evident in all disciplines. Organizational leadership in a postmodern world must inspire creative expression. Specific dynamics for effective organizational leadership will be examined. We introduce two ministry sites that will serve as our laboratory for the practical application and evaluation of this research. The thesis concludes with suggestions for returning the church to a more balanced and biblical foundation. By examining the cultural environment necessary to inspire to artist, it will be possible to develop the God-given creative expression in everyone. The practical outcome of this thesis will be an organizational leadership model for a postmodern world that inspires creative expression in people."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130964890484736,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:39:58.536Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13083,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":46,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":9,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
