It is primarily concerned with pastors coming to a congregation after the split and working with a remaining congregation. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit a pastor can implement these priorities and create a community of renewal, which will empower the church's restoration. The project followed the skills enhancement model. First, the project director researched five selected expositors' approaches to life application. Finally, five professional peers evaluated the three project sermons along with three sermons randomly selected from the project director's prior year of preaching. Research has demonstrated that few new graduates feel adequately prepared to step into the full-time preaching role required of a senior pastor. Staff pastors who aspire to become senior pastors need further equipping and experience in homiletics.  Senior pastors have a unique opportunity to share the experience and expertise acquired through years of pulpit ministry. That experience and expertise may be shared through mentoring staff pastors in homiletics. Mentoring staff pastors in homiletics provides the fundamental principles of homiletics and a structured plan needed to equip an experienced senior pastor to successfully mentor a member of his pastoral staff in homiletics.  The manual is divided into three major parts, Mentoring in sermon preparation, Mentoring in sermon delivery, and Mentoring in sermon evaluation.  The manual is designed to provide individualized instruction for the staff members' specific needs. This is attested to by two surveys conducted among alumni pastors and students of Singapore Bible College. To address this challenge, a homiletics curriculum on expository preaching is developed to equip students at Singapore Bible College. An effective expository sermon displays four characteristics: (1) true to Authorial intent, (2) clear, (3) relevant, and (4) interesting. In formulating the curriculum, the thesis takes into account the philosophy of expositoty preaching, as well as the broader subjects on the teaching of homiletics and the challenges that confront the teacher in Asia. The thesis proposes contextualized education and methodologies that take into account the cultural characteristics and cognitive learning processes of the Asian student. It looks at the prevailing struggles of integrating academics and ministry within a seminary setting, and offers suggestions for the teaching of homiletics as an integral part of theological education. The Project in Ministry has two major phases. The first phase was the developmental phase. During this phase, research was conducted to discern character traits of mature disciples and current methods used to help new members move toward maturity. The author's premise is that expository preaching without notes is the most effective way to communicate God's word in a media culture.  Although we live in a visual culture, the author believes that the oral transmission of God's word is still a viable means of communicating the Good News.  Whereas the content of our message cannot and must not change, the method with which we communicate the message can and should change.  The particular method that will effectively communicate God's word in a media culture is preaching expository sermons without notes.  This thesis is comprised of five chapters.  In chapter one the author will state the case for expository preachingwithout notes. Chapter two will examine the role of preaching and preachers from a biblical perspective through the use of theological reflection.  Chapter three presents a focused literature review on the material currently available on expository preaching without notes.  Chapter four includes a syllabus and outlines for teaching a course on expository preaching without notes. An assessment of the needs of families in the Cedar Grove community of Shreveport was done, and based on the results, participants were trained to address those needs. The training occurred during seven ninety-minute sessions. The program involved the participants in teaching/training sessions, group discussions, and a neighborhood tour. At the completion of the project, the project director acquired an increased knowledge of inner-city families' needs.
