Treatment included cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and magazine photo collage.  Beck Depression Inventory and David Burns' pre- and post-session evaluations were employed.  Results were inconclusive based on small group (five women started, four finished, three completed results) and preliminary nature of the study, but suggest addition of spiritual guidance may help reduce depression as it increases relationship with God.  Other factors contributed highly to results. A small group met for twelve weekly meetings to learn to practice spiritual disciplines and discover their spiritual gifts.  A pre-test and post-test were administered as well as a self-evaluation and course evaluation. The methodology used to achieve this was a pretest survey, a four-sermon series, and a post test survey.  The findings of this project confirmed that there is a definite relationship between expository preaching and spiritual growth. A manual used for session content was written.  The goal was to make membership meaningful at the church.  Three seminars were evaluated. The thesis was field-tested by two groups in two separate churches.  Each group followed the theological basis and the guidelines that were recommended for building and implementing a vision that was to lead to a new ministry within each church. A new ministry was born within each church.  The process and the experience of the process brought forth a positive and renewing effect upon the participants and spread beyond them.
