Very often the response and attempts to resolve congregational conflict exacerbates the situation. This project thus focuses on a particular congregation, the issues that it faced during a recent episode of conflict, and attempts to achieve transformation, healing, and reconciliation. The congregation is analyzed using a family systems approach. The development and the application of a strategy to achieve the three-fold goal are explored. This strategy is guided by a school of conflict management called Conflict Transformation. This project explores the validity of the claims of this method when applied in the Jamaican context. Personal stories from the church's members revealed a confusion of Christian identity, an absence of cohesion, and lack of esprit de corps, not unlike many mainline Protestant congregations. The theme of resurrection is explored from the vantage-point of those who first encountered it, Jesus' disciples and the early Christian communities, and then from the perspective of twentieth century liberation theology.  Knowing a community in which an itinerant preaches is resurrection preaching. After first exploring the loss of lament and the resulting consequences, the project proposes a homiletic of story weaving, as a relational, collaborative, organic method. This collaborative methodology is then utilized in the preparation of three sermons on biblical texts of lament. The author first defines the catalyst for the project. Through historical research and a brief analysis of the background materials, the author sets two goals to define the parameters for the project.
