However, very few church workers have opportunity to receive formal teaching about the truth of the gospel. As a result, the foundation of the faith of the believers becomes terribly weak and unstable. The goal of this project is to teach church workers in China the basic truth of the gospel in a Chinese context for personal evangelism. It will seek to contextualize the truth of the gospel with the unique characteristics of ancient Chinese written characters, which amazingly contain the stories of the gospel. Church workers will learn the knowledge and skills of utilizing a figurative and factual way to share the gospel with Chinese-contextualized messages. The training on this spiritual triad was accomplished with thirty members/leaders in six sessions through the use of Bible instruction and other professional materials.  Interviews, post-test, and focus groups were used to measure the effect of the training. The new church's form stems from Carl George's community group model that he labels 'meta-church.'  The first phase of the project develops the community group leader training curriculum.  The second phase centers on building the leadership skills of the community group leaders.  The third phase organizes the pilot group.  The fourth phase provides the community group leaders with field experience and employs the meta-church structure by having the pilot group meet eight times over a twelve week period. Olive United Methodist Church, Topeka, Kansas, the researcher formed five spiritual formation groups of three led by five trained spiritual friends.  Groups attended ten weekly sessions of prayer and Wednesday night Bible study. It was designed to help congregations and their communities determine their unique ministry callings. Discovery process methods included Bible study, interviews, individual and group assessments, observer-monitor sheets and a list of possible health ministry ideas. The four tested congregations exhibited greater interest in faith and health. These congregations determined the most prevalent congregational diseases, stressors, and some previously unknown health issues. A high rate of pastoral turnover and geographic isolation necessitate the training of lay preachers to meet this need.  Lay preachers can be effective if they understand the communication patterns of the traditional/oral listeners who occupy these pews.  This project equipped a group of laymen from a large urban church to preach in the small rural churches of Oklahoma.  The laymen were trained to understand and appreciate biblical narrative.  they learned basic storytelling skills.  They worked to construct and deliver sermons that respected the traditional/oral communication keys of stories, relationships, and proverbial sayings. Documentation included observations of members at prayer and personal testimonies about answers to prayers.
