The revitalization of a church is not revival or reformation. It is the biblically delineated and identified principles given to leaders to enable a church to move from its disabled and diseased status to one of vitality and health. This dissertation will point out the necessity of this ministry which will be clarified in the introduction of this paper. This dissertation has seven chapters. Chapter one explains why revitalization is necessary. Chapter two gives several key principles of church revitalization while chapter three gives a biblical paradigm for revitalization. The content of chapter four is a review of four contemporary books that have been written on the subject of revitalization. Chapter five highlights the 'Embers to a Flame' church revitalization conference materials and chapter six suggests several key roles that pastors and leadership can play in keeping their church vital and healthy. This pilot program seminar consisted of meeting surveyed needs of ministers through reading research, creating personal philosophies, and evaluation their personal programs. The results indicated that ministers wanted to be equipped to do ministry; therefore, validating this certification program. The certification program seminars will include pre-seminar assignments, as well as a post-seminar evaluation. A small group was offered an opportunity to participate in 1) concentrated training for basic youth ministry, 2) observation in churches with comprehensive, healthy youth ministries and 3) personal mentoring time dealing with ministry issues.  Predominatly Hispanic conference leaders from around the state led the training sessions, thus providing teaching as well as contacts and role models for them. Observations increased application ideas.  Mentoring allowed personal growth based upon their personal needs. Spiritual mapping seeks to identify God's plan for a city and the spiritual strongholds which prevent the spread of the gospel and the growth of the church.  Insights gained are applied to prayer and evangelism.  Historical research was done, current residents were interviewed and conclusions have been drawn.  Specific redemptive gifts and spiritual strongholds were identified in the church and community. The author limited the scope of the study in the groups to five key areas of spiritual growth and the groups met for one and a half hours, once a week for forty one weeks.  The author evaluated the groups at the mid-point and at the end of the group life. Evaluative tools employe were surveys and personal interviews. In this volume, the author describes the development of a ministry of edification in which parents of preadolescents were challenged and equipped to communicate the difficult but important issues presented in Proverbs 1-9 to their children in developmentally effective ways. Questionnaires were given at the beginning and at the end of the program.  The results of the questionnaires indicated that students grew in their Christian faith as demonstrated by an increase in discernible discipleship habits.  The liturgy helped facilitate that end.  The mentors developed relationships with the mentorees that empowered them to grow in their Christian faith.
