In the light of a New Testament perspective, ministry belongs to all believers.  The church needs to dissolve the dichotomy between clergy and laity by equipping multiple leaders.  The Free Methodist Church is a movement of holiness, evangelism, social action and mission.  Its pioneer leaders were both laity and clergy. To confront this worldview, a study of the attributes of God was administered to Christian students in their early twenties. The researcher asserts that GenXers relate to organized religion much differrently than previous generations shaped by modernity.  The project began with an extensive review of literature.  A 31 item questionnaire was administered to 32 students in the College of Education.  Student responses were either slightly above or below the median response for each question.  No statistically significant correlation was found to suggest the proposed hypothesis. The leadership team studied Matthew 28:19-20 and devised a Great Commission Purpose Statement, and then studied New Testament functions of the church and developed a Church Mission Statement to carry out the Great Commission Statement.  Through a study of biblical priorities, it became apparent that the church was imbalanced particularly in the areas of evangelism and discipleship training for ministry, so two key programs were begun in these areas. Two major research questions motivate this study: Is it appropriate for pastoral staff to use general psychological theories and techniques to conduct counseling? Should the trinitarian perspective be the guiding hand in counseling the victims of a disaster? The author used the Taiwanese earthquake of September 21, 1999 as a research setting and conducted in-depth interviews with pastoral counselors and victims in six disaster areas in Taiwan. The study shows that the most essential spiritual power behind the pastoral counseling of the victims was communion with the Trinity. Such fellowship is also the essential factor in the salvation plan of the Triune God. They make up four concentric circles, extending outward from nature, through temperament and personality to character. There is one human nature, namely the innate evil of human nature. It is written from research, survey observation, and personal experience.  Pacing oneself, balancing personal life, and finding the appropriate priority of vocation are daily concerns in the sojourn of Seventh-Day Adventist pastors.  Imbalance among these priorities often results in frustration, discouragement, and even burnout.  Although pastoral burnout is real in most denominations, the potential causes of burnout among Seventh-day Adventist pastors is viewed in light of their unique history, mission, and organizational structure.  This project seeks to identify potential causes of burnout in pastoral ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  It also discusses methods of burnout prevention and ways Adventist pastors can renew themselves. The examination of the potential causes of burnout in Seventh-day Adventist pastoral ministyr may be first related to the pastor's inappropriate response to the great gospel commission.  The Adventist pastor's sense of personal or general church mission may be inappropriate or unrealistic.  Second, burnout among pastors is related to their inability to find a balance in relationship to conference, congregation, community, and home life.  This inevitably will cause personal dilemmas that may be internal and/or external.  Third, burnout is related to the pastor's ability or inability to handle relational conflict. Understanding potential causes of burnout, and recognizing its signs and symptoms are essential to its prevention, and equally essential in the restoration of pastors who have become its victims. Therefore, in order to avoid burnout it is essential that the Adventist pastor be made aware of its potential causes.
