The training has three objectives for the project participants: (1) increase knowledge of the origin, culture, character, theology and religious practices of the target group; (2) develop skill in witnessing; and (3) persevere in witnessing. The project engaged an eight phase process which included the following study: (1) theology of witnessing; (2) knowledge of basic history, culture, and theology and religious practices related to witnessing; (3) presentation of witnessing module; (4) and how to persevere in witnessing.  Testing instruments were also developed to test all goals and objectives. Blanchard into the context of ministry.  Eight ministers volunteered to receive training and implement the training into their ministries.  Each minister enlisted team members from their ministry setting in order to accomplish a specific task.  The ministers and team members used assessment instruments to track changes in leadership behavior.  The project's goal was to answer the question; 'Is Situational Leadership valuable and useful in the context of ministry?'     This project was effective and provided a tool for ministerial leadership. Chapter 1 sets the parameters of the project and defines urban ministry.  Along with the church's history and demography, key factors that have contributed to the church's long-term growth and vitality are examined.  Chapter 2 contains the biblical and theological foundation for church growth.  The biblical analysis is meshed with the theological implications for urban ministry.  Chapter 3 focuses on the inherent obstacles that challenge an inner city congregation.  Special attention is given to confronting and overcoming a wide variety of common church growth impediments.  Chapter 4 includes principles and methods that have facilitated the sustained growth of an inner city church.  These transferable concepts can assist other churches' productivity. Chapter 5 provides an evaluation of accomplishments and remaining challenges. Chapter 1 traces the history of Hunter Street Baptist Church, goals, rationale, and limitations of the project.  Chapter 2 contains an overview of the biblical and theological aspects of 'church,' and uses the biblical image to springboard into a rationale for the purposes of the church, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission and Great Commandment of Jesus Christ.  Chapter 3 looks at the mentor/mentoree relationship with the objective of healthy church growth training as an extension of the ministries of Hunter Street Baptist Church.  An analysis of the biblical guidelines for the mentor relationship is included in this chapter. Chapters 4 and 5 examine specific ministry focus and goals in the actual mentor/mentoree relationship offered to partner churches from Hunter Street Baptist Church.  Included are strategies to implement the development of healthy churches and growing congregations. Chapter 1 identified the challenges facing the church and defined the project's purpose. Chapter 2 explored the biblical concepts of spiritual gifts with special emphasis on the implications of spiritual possession and its relationship with the individual personality. Chapter 3 articulated the implications of using the Enneagram personality typologies as a tool for liberating the spirit within the individual. Chapter 4 outlined the Spiritual Gifts Workshop used to implement the program. Chapter 5 evaluated the effects of the workshop within both a short-term (six week) and long-term (five year) framework. She proposed creating the manual with input from recognized church planting experts, sponsor churches, and church planters, and revising it after it had been used by participating sponsors and planters.  The manual was evaluated as failing to motivate uncommitted churches to become sponsors.  It did assist sponsors and planters who were already committed. Chapter 1 presented an overview that included three goals of cell group ministry, background information, definitions, and the research methodologies. Chapter 2 focused on biblical, theological, and historical foundations for cell groups. It described the role and perception of leadership in the functioning of the cell group. Chapter 3 addressed the social and psychological aspects of the cell group. It discussed the cell group meetings that are essential to Christian experience and growth in modern society: flexibility, mobility, inclusiveness, and effectiveness. The usefulness of cell groups in a cross-cultural setting is described in this chapter. Chapter 4 explained the procedures, program training, and equipping of cell leaders. The information obtained from Chapters 2 and 3 were applied to the program. Chapter 5 evaluated the plan, leaders, leader training program, teaching program, goals of this project, methods of this project, and the outcome of the cell group. Chapter 1 set the context for the ministry and how the project will be carried out. Chapter 2 established a sacred foundation for lay involvement in ministry. A case is made in chapter two using biblical, theological and historical arguments for the activity of the laity in ministry. Chapter 3 investigated the needs of the rapidly aging American population. A.H. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs was used to emphasize the person's needs. The chapter ends with a section of modern day churches who are ministering well in this area. Chapter 4 described the implementation of the project. A detailed discussion on the administering of group discussions is followed by a description of the course of study administered to the group. An evaluation of the project makes up chapter 5. A cross-section of leaders from the New Mount Olive Baptist Church served as participants in a case study.  An analysis of the leadership styles and the organizational culture within the New Mount Olive Baptist Church was performed through the administering of questionnaires, a professionally designed Leadership Inventory, and a Congregational Systems Study.  Findings suggest that existing ministry leaders were unclear about role expectations and lacked effective training.  Additionally, emerging leaders were not being identified and engaged in ministry.  The project demonstrated that the development of a comprehensive training module designed to teach quality and excellence would better identify, train and develop ministry leaders.
