Three primary servanthood roles for deacons emerge in this study: worship, fellowship, and prayer. A deacon's role is not narrowly liturgical, but nonliturgical roles are developing more slowly. As these deacons respond to their servanthood tasks, their stories illuminate the diaconate's influence on their faith and on the life of the congregation. Diaconal servanthood is an asset to Lutheran churches and deacons are enabled to grow in faith, spirituality, and service as they enter into their work."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714665430777856,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:34:13.281Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:32:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:35:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cd93361f-01ae-481e-8a87-c84ac6ff1298","accessControl_ssim":["0a0db455-3e67-4073-bb76-37f6337f17cb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The pastoral care of the sexually addicted"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:32:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:01:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f3b63367-f287-4d12-b11f-11b897978a6c"],"hasLease_ssim":["20976b42-4fdb-42e6-831d-8b6b66b6c5e9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"advisor_tesim":["Norma Schweitzer Wood"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John K Burk"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"subject_tesim":["Sex addiction","Sex (Psychology)","Pastoral counseling","Shame","Obsessive-compulsive neurosis"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores a Christian response to the needs and behaviors of sexually addicted persons.
