Analysis of Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16 demonstrates that a variety of congregational song may be used in corporate worship, but this song must always be didactic in character. In the Reformation, congregational song was meant to serve a liturgical purpose. Based on historical analysis of Southern Baptist worship traditions and church growth materials offering sociological perspectives on worship planning for diverse populations, the project convenes a four-session workshop for core leaders of the church, concentrating on biblical, historical, theological, and cultural influences on corporate worship. Workshop participants then design four worship services based on what they have learned.
