During a four-week period, group leaders were trained to lead eight consecutive experimental group sessions.  In the eight-week test period 43 persons were divided into five groups of different age spans, plus one group disregarding age concerns. Using the experimental method of research, 13 influential church leaders learned to write their own church mission and vision statements in a series of eight training sessions studying the nature and mission of the church, the church's gifts, and the church's community.  Participating leaders reclarified their church's biblical mission and established a specific direction for ministry by writing the statements in their own words.
