In a 12-week experience, group participants practice personal devotions, meditation, and journaling.  The project follows participants' spiritual journeys and expresses them in their words, revealing qualities and skills necessary for an initiator, as well as some hurdles and concerns.  The project makes no claim that group spiritual guidance is the only way to draw closer to God, but with minimal education for the initiator such groups can be incorporated into churches. The project analyzes the theory and practice of prison ministry in the context of present United States conditions, presenting a theology of mercy and relationship as essential to the Gospel and to a ministry to visit those in prison. Foundational to an understanding of fund raising for ministry is the precept that God owns everything and people are merely stewards of what God already owns.  This idea of giving back what already belongs to God redefines the twentieth-century concept of ownership.  Christians are stewards of all God has given.  With a historical perspective on fund raising, both from the church and parachurch organizations, the project develops a practical and appropriate plan for raising money into the twenty-first century.
