Based on historical, physiological, psychological, sociological, and biblical perspectives, the project reports and evaluates development of a ministry, including a regular seniors' fellowship meeting, a special series of five-lesson Bible studies, and related programs such as small groups for sharing and prayer, individual Bible reading lessons, visitation, counseling, social services, and activities. The project examined the literature of premarital counseling, determined through surveys what pastors in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod South and North Wisconsin Districts are presently using in their ministries, and determined through surveys what premarital counseling the married members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church had. This research led to development and implementation of a six-session premarital counseling program and a manual covering six topics and designed for couples to keep throughout their marriage. This project proposes that the example of church planting by training a national to pastor a new church, coupled with biblical analysis of discipling, yields a pattern for leadership training. Internship as developed in this project involves one year of learning language, culture, and religions integrated into responsible planting of a church. Mission subjects tuaught include anthropology, interpersonal relationships, world religions, cross-cultural communication, and church planting.
