It is even more difficult in a congregation made up of members from the baby boomer and baby buster generations.  These individuals have an aversion to making commitments.  This project teaches deacons how to maintain involvement of baby boomers and baby busters in an effort to reduce the growing number of inactive church members.  The project begins with training of deacons over seven weeks.  Deacons then interview inactive members to determine what factors led to their reduced involvement. The task force contributes the research and guides the development and evaluation of a three-part news special produced and aired by a local television station. A pre-test and post-test evaluation compared a study group and a control group.  Some participants showed marked improvement on cognitive and attitudinal scores.  For the most part, improvement in both cognitive learning and attitudinal change was modest.  The study group demonstrated a stronger understanding and commitment to these biblical teachings than the author had anticipated. The project conducted a five-session training seminar, evaluating results with cognitive and affective survey materials. The project proposes various methods that pastors might immediately employ for the benefit of their Bible study. The project used a series of theological lessons followed by surveys of the congregation to introduce the team concept to the church, concluding with a small group training seminar.  Spiritual gifts of church members were identified, and these gifts and interests directed formation of ministry teams in the congregation to accomplish specific ministry tasks. New member assimilation can be best improved by developing a healthy system that new members may join.  The project involved 10 church members in an eight-week study using lectures, group dialogue, and psychological instruments. This project concentrates on three growing churches in Saigon--An-Dong, Tran Cao Van and Truong Minh Giang--to attempt to discover reasons and factors that have enabled these churches to grow under Communist oppression from 1975 to 1983.  The project includes a short, critical review of the history of Protestantism in Vietnam and a discussion of various forms of Communist persecution of religion, citing the positive and negative effects on the Protestant church.
