The project design included a five-week training seminar on the discipline of prayer in the devotional life. A sixth session about leading small groups was implemented among the deacon group. Through historical research, a thesis was developed that a public relations campaign was a suitable method for the effort.  With the assistance of the public relations committee, a nine-week public relations campaign was designed, implemented, and evaluated.  The project was an attempt to demonstrate the genuine concern First Baptist Church had for the surrounding community. The thesis was that with couples enlisted and mentors trained, the young marriages would give evidence of being strengthened through the guidance of the middle-aged couples.  Pretests were the Dyadic Adjustment Scales (DAS) and the Marital Satisfaction Scale (MSS).  Weekly enrichment sessions included mentoring time after the director's lectures on eight aspects of marriage.
