Yet they know little or nothing at all about the beliefs and practices of each other. Both claim to embody a universal message intended by God for the salvation of humankind. How do both diagnose the human situation? What is the saving work of God that both believe and proclaim would change the human situation and restore authentic humanity? What do they have in common? How do they differ? The purpose of this project has been to explore possible answers to these key questions and to do pastoral reflection on such answers. The thesis seeks to develop an appropriate understanding of the saving work of God in both religious communities and proposes dialogue as a way to share theological insights. It is hoped that in reflecting on such common themes both communities will be convinced and will have the courage to dialogue and understand better both their own faith and that of the other through sharing ideas, beliefs and religious stories."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133873579491328,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:26:12.478Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:35:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:31:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5549df6f-53b6-43d5-802a-98212227162d","accessControl_ssim":["5848ec4f-210c-4713-9e13-d885a1eaeba2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church growth through an offsite, second worship service"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:35:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:38:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8a69117e-83cc-4339-89b8-93bf2a9e29ad"],"hasLease_ssim":["6f109836-46ee-4e21-9216-a30c84802613"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ronald K Crandall"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["J Phillip McClendon"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church growth"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["No abstract was submitted for this doctor of ministry dissertation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134208770441216,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:31:32.141Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:34:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"53fe87b6-aa38-4af0-99cf-899b7847e270","accessControl_ssim":["cd6ea09e-7c80-45eb-b085-87ad8630e610"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ordained men and women working together in staff ministries"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:35:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a16223e7-c5f1-48d1-acc5-c3ecc1c7127f"],"hasLease_ssim":["15da6196-d49d-4a92-8180-fdb62a6e0e7b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"advisor_tesim":["Clarence L Lee"],"year_tesim":["1978"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James B Christ"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Church management","Sex--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project investigated effective multiple staff ministries in local parishes with ordained men and ordained women, identifying both pitfalls and benefits compared with single-sex staff. The conclusion sees resurrection as held in tension both as a future hope and as present reality in congregational life, based on 'God raised Jesus from the dead' understood as witness to an event and as theological reflection."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799714490420297728,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:31:26.377Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:35:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b7a7c6f8-7f72-44cf-8c75-c2a9b4fc6bc8","accessControl_ssim":["3c59c18e-00e0-45b4-b058-f51b9ec02ea7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral care to the physically disabled"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:34:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:25:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0ffc56ff-b987-4441-b884-ebf171568379"],"hasLease_ssim":["893d0837-121f-4165-bdad-b57c6f331b5e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"advisor_tesim":["LeRoy Aden"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Autumn H Fletcher"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with people with disabilities"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper discusses major issues of pastoral care to the physically disabled using primary texts, personal experience, a survey on loss and suicide, case studies and statements by physically disabled persons. Establishing entry goals is more important than one's preconceived ministry goals. Planning specific ways to get to know the people, their history, their community, and their particular vision of the congregation's mission within the community needs to precede articulating one's own vision for mission or the generic application of a mission imported from elsewhere. The author seeks a transition in the working relationship of pastor and congregation that moves from being pastor-centered to being mission-centered or, more broadly, Spirit-centered."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134998617653248,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:44:05.398Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":13083,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":46,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":9,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
