As this procedure becomes more and more common, an increasing number of pastors will be ministering to one or more parishioners who are facing the transplantation experience. In this project, a theology of the value of human life and health is presented, along with a theological approach to pastoral care in situations where there is no cure, only continuing treatment of a chronic situation, such as the drawn-out process of transplantation and its resulting permanent life changes. The experience of receiving a new vital organ is explained from the beginning of pre-transplant phase, through the transplant, and post-transplant phases. Physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the process are explored and suggestions are given as to how best to minister in each stage of the process. The result is a booklet for ministers which they may use to aid them in better understanding and ministering to their congregants who are living with the help of an organ from another person's body."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128876220416000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:06:46.625Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:15:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:13:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c0bbc6e4-3bc4-4c6b-bf2d-580409b096f1","accessControl_ssim":["6070a590-59f8-488a-b876-fa1ef8cb0925"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Perceptions of the placement process: Presbyterian women candidates at Union Theological Seminary in Virginia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:15:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:40:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2eab58a3-fc14-4572-ae66-aedb504a436a"],"hasLease_ssim":["c020aa5c-e7b6-4849-be73-37cbced59b77"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education"],"advisor_tesim":["Rebecca Weaver"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Susan E Fox"],"publisher_tesim":["Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Placement","Women clergy","Women","Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This exploratory study was designed to discover the perception of the placement process held by women who were candidates for ministry in the Presbyterian Church (USA). The project discovered different expectations but also considerable unity within each church on their expectations for success."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131913082109952,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:55:02.802Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:14:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:46:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1877a7fe-4d04-4502-896c-cff170911b61","accessControl_ssim":["486bd06b-81d2-4baf-a5ef-a080c7229fbd"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Understanding salvation today: contemporary reformed options"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:14:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:50:52Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["88f1c297-5fc9-4237-b200-440a7b26707e"],"hasLease_ssim":["e75785eb-9b75-48fe-9e5e-84d27b24dbae"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["George W Stroup"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ernest T Thompson"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Salvation","Theology, Reformed"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The doctrine of salvation is central to the faith and the life of the church. There is, however, confusion in the church today about the meaning of salvation. One traditional approach to understanding salvation, substitutionary atonement, has been questioned by many contemporary theologians. In this project an eight-week class on understanding salvation today will be designed and taught. The project focuses on the work of five modern Reformed theologians: Gustav Aulen, John Stott, Karl Barth, Jürgen Moltmann, Friedrich Schleiermacher, and Paul Fiddes. The approach to understanding salvation taken by each is described and consideration is given to the contribution each can make to a contemporary understanding of salvation. Scripture passages and a background essay for each of the eight lessons are given. This class was taught to a group of adults at the First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the fall of 1994."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127617304264704,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:46:46.029Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:14:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:48:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1d9f7edb-66e0-4d98-b546-304482cfdb1a","accessControl_ssim":["37f3eb9e-7ca3-4977-a121-949fdc66bee4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Overcoming social barriers with heterogeneous small group ministry in a multicultural and multiracial church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:14:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:00:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e25402ab-da39-45ec-abdf-bf292f8500c4"],"hasLease_ssim":["1389b555-8975-41c5-ae28-3a1019cdbadc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley A Nelson"],"year_tesim":["1995"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["George K Lim"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Cultural pluralism","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["God created variety and diversity in human beings, not separations.
