By examining the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy and several other liturgical documents with regard to the assembly and the presider's role, the project identifies a number of attitudes and skills needed for presiding effectively within the liturgical assembly. A curriculum was designed that consisted of eleven discipleship training sessions.  These discipleship training sessions took place weekly.  To determine the effectiveness of the program, the experimental research method was used. These common variables that are repeated in one good preacher after another fall into three major headings: what is said (accuracy, relevance); how it is said (clarity, passion); and who says it (giftedness, credibility). Through the process of 'storyboarding,' a creative brainstorming exercise, these common variables were highlighted.  This led to the creation of an analytical tool that was used to evaluate sermons from 8 different preachers from various denominational backgrounds.  The analytical tool served to verify the effectiveness of those preachers who participated in the study. The first part is historical and critical, explaining the views of recent authors who have opposed all church debt and offering a biblical and practical critique of those views.  Then all the biblical passages relevant to indebtedness are exegeted and interpreted.  The conclusions presented are that the Scriptures do not forbid borrowing for individuals and it is inconsistent to allow borrowing for individuals but not for churches. The program has been developed carefully on the basis of strong theological and theoretical rationale.  The method of study combines 13 class teachings and a marriage enrichment retreat followed by a three-month support group.  The program was implemented at the Korean First Baptist Church (SanJose, California).  Results show a significant improvement in the rolemodels, relational behavior, communication, and conflict management. It is an attempt to provide information about stress, and to emphasize coping skills. After preliminary research, the writer found that role stress, conflict stress, and culture stress were three key stressors in the lives of Valley pastors. An eight hour seminar on stress in ministry was scheduled.  The two-fold goal of increasing awareness of stress and increasing coping efficacy was emphasized in the seminar.  After the seminar, six pastors were monitored over a six-week period to determine benefits received from the seminar experience.
