The presentation ofmaterials was made from a feminist perspective, examining critical feminist issues.  Use of the model examined how the use of prayer and meditation can be used in pastoral counseling to develop a deepened spirituality through an individual faith journey.  A select group of women worked with the model which consisted of seven sessions. Following the experiment each was interviewed and an evaluation was used to determine its effectiveness. This study, then, is an attempt to study and understand the private use of four inward disciplines from the larger list of spiritual exercises.  This study focuses on silence and solitude, Bible study, meditation and prayer.  It is also an attempt to understand how each discipline can contribute to personal transformation. But we have understood Jesus' commandment as non-physical and spiritual.  Such misunderstanding produced unbalanced church programs in mission. Evangelism in foreign countries was understood as mission and internal mission to the poor was neglected by the church because it was regarded as social program.  In the Korean Tampa congregation, an attempt is made to develop the church's mission with poor people.  We appear to be happy and joyful within the boundaries of the church, and we close our eyes to what is outside of the boundaries. A hot meal service program for hungry people has been created.  It is not for church growth, but for the poor people because Jesus commanded us to feed the hungry.  We need to have mission through our hands and bodies. Chapter 9 and the appendix summarize the process experienced at Forrest Memorial United Methodist Church (Hurricane, West Virginia). Major divisions in the church have altered liturgical practices, especially the ritual observance of the sacraments of baptism and Eucharist.  Early Christian worship reflected in the gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts reveals the religious experiences of the church in the last third of the first century.  To the extent that they can be recovered, this project reveals how the sacramental practices of baptism and Eucharist were formative in the Luke/Acts community, how they evolved through twenty centuries of Christianity, and how they present a paradigm for modern Christian worship. Hymns sung during a two-year period were analyzed and described using standard categories of systematic theology.  The study concluded that both churches' hymnodies demonstrated comprehensive theological development in the key areas of belief. While the hymnodies' teachings are biblical, several areas were noted where discrepancies might have occurred between people's beliefs and the beliefs they expressed in their singing. When one knows the history of a parish, it gives the members a sense of direction and mission for continuity.
