Each exercise was based on one of the tasks of mourning that Wm Worden discussed in his book, Grief Counseling and Grief Therapy. These exercises were used in a group setting consisting of six single adult women. Two were widows, three were divorced and one had lost a brother to AIDS. This project gave a forum for writers in the Kansas City Kansas Baptist Association.  Of the pool of forty-three eligible churches and missions at the beginning of the project, nine participated.  While the project was designed to indicate success with eight participants, not only was this goal surpassed but others have indicated a desire to participate at a later time.  A journal was produced with editing at a later time. This thesis delineates the evolution of the Emmanuel Korean Church from its inception to its present state. Instruments used to evaluate the effectiveness of the project include an evaluation form for each session, a pretest and a posttest, and a motivational gift inventory. The first step involves stating the discrepancy, the second step is an analysis of the ambiguities, and the third step is finding God's solution to the problem. Pastors assigned to small town and rural churches who have little or no background in small town culture go through a culture shock akin to those who are serving in a foreign land.  This project was designed to introduce the culture and values of the small town and help participants identify the issues with which people in these communities are dealing.  By using the accumulated knowledge and experience of participants and the writings of rural sociologists, several key issues were identified during this three-day workshop and solutions were established collectively. This seminar provides the participants with information to motivate them to build bridges of friendship tothese communities so that the gospel can be shared in word and deed.  The methods of research are participant observation, academic research, surveys, and interviews.
