A written survey comprised of essay-type questions was administered to the participants and teachers of four existing Bible study groups. Using a study course, participants considered open versus closed churches.  In a leadership conference, board members were introduced to the implications of shared ministry.  In a sermon series, congregants heard about five church models: covenant communion, sacrament, herald, servant, and community of disciples. Since the goal of evangelism is seen as making disciples, the strategy places heavy emphasis on assimilating new believers into the local church.  Ten New Testament principles of evangelism form the basis for evaluating the three case studies as well as providing the theological orientation for the strategy.  The three-step strategy takes a chronological approach to the task of local church evangelism. Many existing programs of evangelism emphasize the knowledge and experience of the presenter of the gospel.  The emphasis of this project will be on recognizing and ministering to the needs of the receiver of the gospel message, the international student.  The eleven-session project includes two evaluation sessions and one session on the biblical basis for evangelism among international students.  The remaining nine sessions are designed to train American students to develop personal relationships with internationals.  These relationships should become channels through which the gospel is communicated. Training sessions will include information that will prepare the participants to communicate cross-culturally. Participants will also be trained to develop relationships by ministering in three specific areas.  These areas include physical, relational, and spiritual needs. A six-week Bible study on the epistle to the Romans was employed as a paradigmatic tool (model and story) for change. Dividing the participants into groups patterned after projected Christian locations in first-century Rome, the pastor alternately discussed Paul as a paradigm for herself, and guided the participants in discussing the epistle text. It was based on II Timothy 2:1-2, and the theology and methods of discipling used by Paul, the early church, and John Wesley's early Methodist class meetings. It incorporated learnings from Evangelism Explosion, Walk to Emmaus, and a previous discipling model.  Evaluation indicated that disciple-making contributed to personal growth in evangelism and discipleship. To accomplish this task, open-ended interviews with seven women in the 73-78 year-old range have been conducted: two married, two single, two widowed, and one divorced. Additionally, there have been conversations with the daughters of a second divorced woman who died before the scheduled interview. Through development of a mission statement, recruiting lay involvement in mission, and increasing financial giving to the congregation, the thesis was validated by results. This was a qualitative study using a stratified sample of six Sisters who had been sexually abused as children and had engaged in some form of pastoral counseling regarding this issue.  The results indicated that the convent was not always a safe place, that pastoral counselors have not always addressed the issue of sexual abuse, and that most of the participants have used the process of pastoral psychotherapy to recommit to religious life. The committee was exposed to the Hebrew Scriptures' understanding of the steward as the responsible householder of all creation and the Christian Scriptures' emphasis on Jesus Christ as God's chief steward.  After studying the nature of human identity and transformation, the committee then helped plan a sermon series on stewardship, recruited and conducted a sermon response group, and formulated a fall financial campaign.
