One of the better opportunities for achieving spiritual growth is participation is the Cursillo (Via de Cristo) movement. The method of study included reading and analysis of congregational statistical data, personal interviews with Cursillo participants from the congregation both before and after attending a retreat, surveys of Cursillo participants and comparisons with similar congregations.  Results of the study indicated that those who attend Cursillo (or similar programs) are uplifted and renewed and are better able to avoid burnout in the congregation. Interviews were carried out with seven clergywomen and twenty-four laywomen.  The relationships described were categorized according to models of fathering developed by other researchers.  Responses about gender-specific names for God were put together with father-daughter relationship data to see possible patterns. The greatest difference appeared between clergywomen and laywomen.  Clergywomen were more discriminating in choosing names for the divinity; laywomen were open to a wider variety of names. The basic approach was inductive.  The method of studying men was through personal narrative, story and observation.  The family, the culture and the church affect the way men perceive themselves as males.  The most important influence are other men, especially fathers.  When these relationships are perceived as negative, men experience personal, sexual and spiritual fragmentation. This thesis was explored using two methods of data collection: a series of case consultation meetings involving two separate clergy groups; and a survey of 228 Michigan clergy. Implications for the church as a patriarchal institution are explored, with particular attention to the Anglican tradition. It addresses their profound problems in the context of their new socio-political situation.  To define the problems, the author combines a multi-disciplinary understanding of the issues with his own personal refugee experience. The preachers of the conservative side have laid their emphasis upon biblicalism, fundamentalism, evangelicalism, and personal salvation, whereas those of the liberal ecumenical group have stressed liberation, ecumenism, syncretism, and social redemption.  This project attempts to discover the possibility of combining evangelical preaching with liberal preaching in the Korean church.  Expository preaching is presented as an effective model which creatively synthesizes evangelical preaching and liberating preaching. Expository preaching attempts to bind together the Word of God and the Incarnate Word.  It insists that a preacher ought to be only not the proclaimer but also the doer of what he/she proclaimed.
