Examination of key biblical understandings of leadership and administration, as well as SPM's underlying assumptions, support its theological appropriateness. Its process and techniques can be adapted for use in equipping lay caregivers in congregations. Three focus groups helped understanding of issues, fashioning of goals, and crafting of the 'faith and reading survey.'  An nth name selection from a church list in a 4,000 sample and 1,021 useable responses.  The survey measured demographics, five behavioral and attitudinal areas of reading, and horizontal and vertical faith levels, making it possible to relate faith level development to religious readership. While many of the existing models of intervention are useful and worthwhile, this thesis will suggest that certain key ingredients are sometimes avoided or neglected in an attempt to move quickly toward a satisfactory resolution of a problem. Effective problem solving, especially when dealing with a difficult person, cannot always be reduced to a simple step-by-step approach.  The purpose of this thesis will be to explore and present another option for dealing with the presence of a difficult person that is both biblical and practical. This bibliographic study examines the history, beliefs, and practices of fifteen important new sects with special emphasis on their worldview within the historical context of Japanese religions.  It is the author's thesis that although the new religions appear modern in form, they remain essentially animistic. Some of those who left the church for other churches were interviewed, as were the backsliders and regular attenders. The results indicated that something was lacking in the church. His view of this overall spiritual process incorporates elements of both particular crises and processes and is 'systemic' in nature, involving cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions of human experience.  This project of ten weekly two-hour small group learning experiences employed pretest and both immediate and delayed posttest evaluations of participants' understanding.  While not statistically confirmed because of the limited number of participants, the findings point clearly to laypersons' ability to grasp comprehensively sanctification's meaning.
