The thirty-four trainees were taught in thirty-eight sessions by nine alternating instructors.  Some of the topics taught were organizational structure, qualifications of a good leader, starting a Royal Rangers outpost, leading boys to Christ, dealing with problems, campcrafts, planning a successful meeting, teaching aids and techniques of communications. Questions were grouped according to personal information (sex, age, marriage status, family, income, temperament), education information (schools attended and feelings about their value, along with suggestions of what was good and what needed improvement), and church information (about one's current ministry).  Two conclusions are that pastors want seminaries to continue to offer the classics (Bible, theology), but to add more practical training. The purpose of this project was to see if it could be possible to rebuild the infra-structure of this old inner-city church by establishing a network of relational groups.  Key elements are: the pastoral role, the link to the church, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the opening up to non-believers. In the language of the Pauline epistles, it is the call to the church to speak to the powers and principalities of the world.  The author has brought forth the story of the massacre at Indian Island, an island within the city of Eureka, California, that happened on February 26, 1860.  The author's intent was to bring forward public events of a spiritual nature that addressed remembrance, contrition and forgiveness. Up to 80 percent of new members of a congregation leave within the first year. Participants from seven adult new memeber classes at St Peter's By the Sea Presbyterian Church (Rancho Palos Verdes, California) met monthly for six months in homes of the class members.  The evenings were divided between basic Bible study and personal sharing. Many clergy wives experience God's love as real and believable in one's daily life.  A few women married to clergy do not experience authentic personhood.  The study identified programs, methodologies and strategies that were helpful.  One hundred-six clergy's wives responded to a survey instrument. The study examines the theology and praxis of evangelism, social and community welfare, and the advocacy and practice of social justice of three participating urban mission organizations and three urban church communities. Most confirmation experiences involve youth in early adolescence.  Yet studies indicate these same youth often 'drop out' of the church 3-5 years later.  Why?  This dissertation is an attempt to answer this question and seek an educational approach to help a confirmation experience be more effective.  The approach used is one developed by Christian educator Thomas Groome and is known as 'shared Christian praxis.'
